  1. Yeah, I've got an idea: Mt. Ellinor.
  2. What are you talking about? They don't even know I climb mountains! If they found that out, it would be back to the cellar for me...for good.
  3. Ballardite. Hmmm. Sounds like a mineral. If it were, it would probably be one that easily disentegrated under pressure or excessive prodding. Yeah, proabably pretty friable stuff. It's probably the kind of mineral that finds the atmosphere of Pub Clubs too caustic to be exposed to unless adequately galvanized with a protective coating of zinc or Vitamin-C. I wish I could join you tomorrow night, but, woe is me, I have to pick my parents up from the airport at that time. Or, I could just make them wait...
  4. So I was right after all? I'm very cornfused. I was up there last August on the Avalanche Creek Trail, and the terrain that I remember being near was that of the basin below and to the right of the second hump left of Sir Donald. Mattp: Looking at the Cheops north side photo, it appears to me to be an avalanche-prone slope. It would not be a wise place to be (based on all I can see from the photo) when avy conditions are considerable. Can't really say until I visit the place myself though.
  5. Thanks for the correction. I knew it was close to that peak if not that peak. Slopes would be about the same though, right?
  6. Referring back to my previous post in this thread, I believe the snowier peak at left in mattp's second B&W photo is Avalanche Mountain (the peak two points left of pyramidal Sir Donald). North Slope of Cheops definitely looks like a danger area to me.
  7. Dude, Josh, my parents live in Spanaway! Besides, Spanaway is the crime capital of the world. So, you sure you want Spanaway as part of Mt. Rainier National Park? Now Parkland on the other hand...annex away!
  8. Just did a climb with friends to the top of 4,841-ft Mailbox Peak. There was a dusting of fresh snow at the top, but no permanent snow. What an amazingly low snow pack this winter. Also visited Snoqualmie Falls on the way back. It was overflowing the most I've ever seen it in probably 10 viewings. There were also a thousand-and-one tourons there. And thank god for the greenbelts around the upper parking lots, because for some stupid reason the public restrooms near the falls overlook were locked. Locked? What the? How do they expect up climbers to relieve themselves if they lock the bathrooms?
  9. Rogers Pass has always been an avalanche-prone area. That's the main reason why the railroad goes through a tunnel there, if I recall correctly. Heck, there's even a major peak right by the pass called Avalanche Mountain with perfect slopes with which to slough the snow en masse.

A million bucks for me! All right! Now I can buy all that North Face gear I always wanted! Not! Tramp: No. Peak is north of those.

You know, that ridge on the far left does look a little like Tepeh Towers, therefore making your peak Klawatti. That's my final answer for a million dollars.

    Mt. Goode? No.

Okay. My turn. What's this peak? Not a hard one.

Cavey: East Ridge of Verboten. How about a hint on your seldom visited, often seen peak?

Yes, Phil, Proper's picture is of Mt. Challenger and that is Fury East on the left.

    Mystery Photo

That second picture posted by Bill is not a mountain at all but a close up shot of a pile of fresh, steamy bull shit in some farmer's field. That's my guess and I'm sticking to it. Actually, I hope I'm not literally sticking to it.

For Bill's photo: couloir leading up to Forbidden West Ridge. Haven't been there....yet....so just a guess based on mountain positions in background. Looks like J-berg in foreground.
  22. Goddess, where do you get all these cool graemlins? I want some pet graemlins of my own.
  23. Saturday's trip is not my idea, so it shall remain a mystery to you. To me, it shall remain wet. Weather on Saturday is probably going to be worse than last Saturday but thankfully the mountain in question will be less involved. There's a trail all the way to the top. No, it's not Mt. Si.

    Mystery Photo

It is actually a guessed view from a peak in the North Cascades that I have never been to. So, in a way, it's based on a real view. Not Three Queens (which I have climbed), but I can see the resemblance.

This one will really have you stumped.
