  1. Not really kidding. He does post here (user name "Beckey"), but he's still at Lurker level. However, my last comment about him being all about the me-me-me was sarcastic.
  2. Too bad I didn't know you were up there again, mattp. Had I known, I would have requested that you snap a few shots of the entire Northwest Ridge of Lewis Peak while there. I know you can see the NW Ridge of Lewis because I could see the north side of Sperry from the ridge. And does anybody know what's supposed to be going on with this graemlin: ? (Oh wait, I just figured it out: the graemlin's whacked out on shrooms!)
  3. What I want to know is why Beckey himself hasn't made his scheduled appearance known by pinning a thread to the top of the Climber's Board? I thought he was all about the "Hey, look at me!"
  4. Now that is kind of funny Dwayner. The picture says it all.

    Pub Club 2/4

Has pub club become instutionalized yet? If not, who cares about all this bruhaha? Keep it light. If people show or don't show, who cares. All I'd need is one more person than me to show up and two's a gathering for good conversation. If more come, so be it. I intend to make more appearances in 2003. I'm not going to poopoo someone for not showing up. I ultimately might consider it their loss. I may be jocular about their non-appearance, ridicule them in jest, never otherwise. "Can't we all just get along." Besides, there's no rule that says two pub clubs at two different sites at the same time can't occur else you're banned from CC.com. If people want to do an Eastside pub club, let them do it. For those that would rather do a westside (Seattle) pub club or a northside (Bellingham) pub club, more power to them. All it takes is a little communication and coordination.
  6. In actuality, I've climbed Mt. Townsend on the NE end of the range a couple of times though never in winter. Awesome for views. It could be a good winter climb. You could check that out. It's been 10 years at least since I've been up there, so I don't remember much. Best to consult maps. Unless they've made a new trail, the trailhead used to be someplace along a well-used (by logging industry) logging road where they decided not to let vehicles go any farther (gate?). The "trail" followed the closed road for a few miles then left it for the last push to the gentle north-south summit ridge. I seem to remember something called Bon Jon Pass Road. That would be a starting place for the map consultation.
  7. Yeah, I've got an idea: Mt. Ellinor.
  8. What are you talking about? They don't even know I climb mountains! If they found that out, it would be back to the cellar for me...for good.
  9. Ballardite. Hmmm. Sounds like a mineral. If it were, it would probably be one that easily disentegrated under pressure or excessive prodding. Yeah, proabably pretty friable stuff. It's probably the kind of mineral that finds the atmosphere of Pub Clubs too caustic to be exposed to unless adequately galvanized with a protective coating of zinc or Vitamin-C. I wish I could join you tomorrow night, but, woe is me, I have to pick my parents up from the airport at that time. Or, I could just make them wait...
  10. So I was right after all? I'm very cornfused. I was up there last August on the Avalanche Creek Trail, and the terrain that I remember being near was that of the basin below and to the right of the second hump left of Sir Donald. Mattp: Looking at the Cheops north side photo, it appears to me to be an avalanche-prone slope. It would not be a wise place to be (based on all I can see from the photo) when avy conditions are considerable. Can't really say until I visit the place myself though.
  11. Thanks for the correction. I knew it was close to that peak if not that peak. Slopes would be about the same though, right?
  12. Referring back to my previous post in this thread, I believe the snowier peak at left in mattp's second B&W photo is Avalanche Mountain (the peak two points left of pyramidal Sir Donald). North Slope of Cheops definitely looks like a danger area to me.
  13. Dude, Josh, my parents live in Spanaway! Besides, Spanaway is the crime capital of the world. So, you sure you want Spanaway as part of Mt. Rainier National Park? Now Parkland on the other hand...annex away!
  14. Just did a climb with friends to the top of 4,841-ft Mailbox Peak. There was a dusting of fresh snow at the top, but no permanent snow. What an amazingly low snow pack this winter. Also visited Snoqualmie Falls on the way back. It was overflowing the most I've ever seen it in probably 10 viewings. There were also a thousand-and-one tourons there. And thank god for the greenbelts around the upper parking lots, because for some stupid reason the public restrooms near the falls overlook were locked. Locked? What the? How do they expect up climbers to relieve themselves if they lock the bathrooms?
  15. Rogers Pass has always been an avalanche-prone area. That's the main reason why the railroad goes through a tunnel there, if I recall correctly. Heck, there's even a major peak right by the pass called Avalanche Mountain with perfect slopes with which to slough the snow en masse.

A million bucks for me! All right! Now I can buy all that North Face gear I always wanted! Not! Tramp: No. Peak is north of those.

You know, that ridge on the far left does look a little like Tepeh Towers, therefore making your peak Klawatti. That's my final answer for a million dollars.
