Tex, look under "wire rope" in the Yellow Pages. There is a place in NW PDX where I got my swager, cable, sleeves etc. Some big industrial supply shop right by the river, can't remember the name. The only issue with them is that you have to buy the sleeves in bulk..like 50 minimum I think. The tiny swages for triggers would be way cheap though. Most swagers people use to make heads stop about one size short of what you would need for triggers. You could probably get one that will do trigger wire size up to about a #2 head for $150. Otherwise a small one with just those smallest sizes can probably be had for $50.

Big nose = lens. You need approx. a 100mm lens to give your face proper depth proportions. Otherwise your nose will look big (wider angle lens) or flat (telephoto). That's why "portrait" lens are typically in the 95-110mm range. You can also simulate the "soft focus" filter effect often seen in portraits by stretching a section of ladies' hose taut over the lens.

No, google "joebialek" and it will kick back links to profiles for this usename on literally dozens of message boards. Primarily newspapers and the like. It appears to be some politco org's newest media tactic. Edit: But by and large, it's fairly ripe material for discussion, posted in spray, and it's not rampant..about a post per month.

You're both right Websters: Revolution (noun) (1) : the action by a celestial body of going round in an orbit or elliptical course; also : apparent movement of such a body round the earth (2) : the time taken by a celestial body to make a complete round in its orbit (3) : the rotation of a celestial body on its axis

I'm still bothered by the can of tuna. WTF? Who carries a can of tuna to the MTV Awards?
-
Why in the HELL is that person standing next to Ms. Simpson (in the first picture) holding a can of Chicken of the Sea Tuna?

If you want to spray, you must have the mind of a spray warrior. Proper preparation is the key. Might I suggest, rockin the hotbox with hero tokes of rastafarian proportion?

1. See RC.com ladies room for 7 pages of tard blog on said topic. 2. Ditto above 3. Match your climbing? Actually, topless works fine. 4. I hope so. 5. Buy the beer and smoke 'em out. 6. Yes. No - work it if you got it. Yes (talk to god about the third one, I didn't make you that way). 7. No. Pay attention to Iain, he knows how to spray. Who else could coin the phrase "he's just fixing to rock the hotbox with some hero tokes of rastafarian proportion "

Beginning Ice Tool Reccomendations
willstrickland replied to AlpineClimber's topic in Ice Climbing Forum
Correction. I had them, used them for 3 seasons, and recently sold them. Suckbm now has them. They are/were good tools, particularly if you need one set of tools that will do just about anything. They were both bent shaft and I never felt that to be a hinderance when plunging. Also, the price is right. I now have Quarks (it was a toss up bewteen the Q's and Vipers, I lucked into a deal on some used ones, thanks LooseBrie!) and will at some point relatively soon need to add a set of alpine oriented tools, as I used the Shrikes for everything. If I were looking for one "do it all" set for beginner or otherwise my first choice would be CM Aztars (for the grip, and to have some pick compatability with my Qs...even though I think the geometry at the adze sucks for gripping while plunging) I'd look at bent shaft tools with a the bend at the top such as: BD Cobras BD Rages Grivel Alp Wings CM Aztar I don't think you will be disappointed in any of those, just find the one that swings right for you and fits your hand best. I would have bought Cobras as my one and only set of tools for everything a long time ago if the grip wasn't so damn fat and shitty. -

No worries, Bill I'm just posturing for the most part. There are plenty of hard workers, but the cliche' of the lazy and/or inept govt worker rings true in my 10yrs of govt experience. I am all for downsizing govt. There is an unfortunate "use it or lose it" aspect to funding in govt. For example, if we are budgeted a certain amount and are savy about conserving funds...which is in our personal interests as taxpayers, we will be "penalized". The bugetary forces will say "oh, they didn't even spend what they had, so we will target our cuts there". So maybe we have training allocations that we don't need to make use of this fiscal year, maybe the courses we need aren't being offered or are full...we will use those funds for some other dubious training purposes rather than risk losing them the following year when we might need them. Once it's cut, you probably won't get it back. It's a horrible attitude, but understandable given the reality. That puts us in odd situations from time to time, like our current vehicle situation. During the late spring to early fall, we do alot of field work. Last year, due to extra high turnover in our office, we had an 8 person office staffed by 3 and a part time student trainee. They rarely could get away from the office to do any field work because of the load. Consequently they put very few miles on our vehicle durnig that field season. So now we are fully staffed with one vehicle for 6 people trying to do their field work, yet because there were not enough miles put on the existing vehicle last year, they will not give us another....even though there are at least 25 unused vehicles on Ft Wainwright at any one time that they could assign/loan/transfer to us for the field season. The real problem lies in the fact that EVERYTHING is a "process". There is all this bureacracy and no freedom or authority to make decisions or make things happen at a level that makes sense. Why does a band-aid cost the govt $4? Because the request to purchase them has passed through 4 people's hands twice by the time it is approved and processed. Time is money. It's a mess, and as a taxpayer you should be very pissed off.

Funny...I always thought clean water was valuable. Do you enjoy the taste of mercury and arsenic? Or maybe you prefer all the anadramous streams to be silted beyond tolerance levels. Yeah, I guess all the civil works projects we undertake...like flood control structures, locks, jetties, harbor and channel dregding, as well as the mil-con projects like the Clear Early Warning station, Bassett Army Hospital, Blair Lakes bombing range, military housing, etc, etc, etc....yeah those are USELESS! USELESS I SAY!! Those design engineers and project managers aren't producing shit! Let's fire them all! On behalf of all the hard working govt employees (admittedly a small minority) I say unto thee: Take up your beef with the legislators and policy makers who expand govt and spend our tax dollars.
