If you're going in May or June, consider Furher Finger too. I don't think it's any harder than Emmons or DC if it's in good condition--and if the upper Nisqually is smooth--and there's a good chance you'll have a track to follow. If you feel more comfortable with several other parties around, then this may or may not be a good choice. My 2 cents. Good luck.

[TR] Winchester Lookout - The long way 1/3/2011
Fairweather replied to JasonG's topic in North Cascades
As an historian myself, I can certainly appreciate what's at stake. Not being familiar with your organization, I can only speculate vis-a-vis your stewardship and/or control over this public space, but I can appreciate the concerns you've expressed about winter damage. Heinrich & Co seem to represent the epitome of responsible stewardship and respect, and it seems to me that a more reasoned post--one that attempted to educate rather than antagonize--would have been appropriate on your part. -
Great video! Looks like you guys know how to have fun in the mountains. Sorry we missed you up there. Great report.

Thanks. Credit where credit is due: Photo #2 and #3 go to my brother and his slick little Canon S95. I think I'm gonna have to get one!

Trip: Chair Peak - NE Buttress TR Date: 2/19/2011 Trip Report: Lots of new snow well bonded to the old. Two other parties on the North Face, but my brother and I had the NE Buttress to ourselves. Had to kick out new steps in the fresh as nobody had been up since the storms. The first pitch is kind of shitty, but the rest of it we simul-climbed. The "ice step" was beautiful and plastic. Watching the skiers far below carve out sweet arching turns in the hummocks above Snow Lake made me wonder about the day's priorities. The route The ledge/couloir More up The step toppin out the notch rappel

"Islam is grrrrrreat! Taxpayer $$$$ for abortions in danger from da thumpers, oh my!! Bullet trains to nowhere: or, let's tax grandma outta her house!!! I'M KINGA THE WORLD!!!!" Would somebody here please call TTK's pharmacist. His dosage is off. Again.

Geeeeezz, where the hell do you come up this shit? Just pulling it out of your ass hasn't worked well for you in the past, not sure why you keep embarrassing yourself here and now. Pretending to be really, really smart on the internets is one thing, demonstrating intellect and a well-considered idea is quite another. Maybe that new girlfriend will smarten you up just a little. More likely, she'll smarten up first.
-
you keep hyperbolizing the # - there are 26 lead bolts over 7 pitches - every pin could be pulled, and thus not be considered a fixed placement, but you don't want that, and in fact no dout would bitch about it if i did! bet you keep saying 50 though... The great bolt debate aside for a moment, I just want to know where you were able to find hardware strong enough to support that fat bastard.

He's about as smart as one can expect a true believer to be: not very.

It looks to me like he went to the ontological bakery and is now trying to eat his holistic cake with atomist frosting--and getting really confused about the recipe. Someone up in Bellingham (probably one of the Jacks) told him it should taste like communitarian, but the sad truth is that no such flavor likely exists. At the same time, he's doing a really poor job of reconciling Rokeach's Two Value Model of freedom and equality--as he chews on his cake.
-
Wow! I'm guessing that could do some damage to the structures up there.

Just finished reading The Costs of Living by Barry Schwartz. The source of your moronism appears to reside in a similar co-opted form of psychology and philosophy--one that leads Schwartz to many of the same bogus conclusions. Carry on.

You're an idiot.

If that were the case, if that rule were strictly enforced, there would be hardly anyone at all posting in Spray. Do you remember Mtn Goat? He was a conservative who tended to make long winded posts and always attempted to argue his points logically and politely. Others would heap insults on him, but he never played that game. Ditto JayB; master of tongue-in-cheek. Despite my best efforts to get him to take off the gloves, he continues to let j_b's insults, name-calling, and cheap shots roll right off. Yet more evidence that playing nice gets you nowhere with rusty tools on the hard-left--so why bother?

Might I suggest more appropriate names for your new "route": Lapdog Dog on a Chain Master's Delight Puppy Love Litterbug

Don't worry Tvash, you still hold a degree of entertainment value for me--and even seem willing to consider alternatives during your rare, lucid moments.

j_b, Since you never, ever deviate from your template, I finally decided to put you on ignore a couple days ago. To clarify, I needn't actually see your above post to know what you're saying--because you've never expressed an original thought or reflected upon the tiniest fragment of your worldview. Not even once. Since exchanges with you fail to meet even the lowly Kevbone standard, I've decided to spare myself the frustration of knowing there are people as dumb as you in the world. Please do me the favor of placing me on ignore as well. Better yet, go climb something and tell us about it in one of the regional mountain forums. Adios!

Insightful. Thanks for sharing.

They're on the NFL's version of welfare: it's called revenue sharing.

Not sure how that dumbass reporter's memory squares with Reagan's 1984 reelection map:
