When liberals use this simplistic and, frankly, antagonistic strategy, they shouldn't be surprised when thinking people eventually throw up their hands and get nasty about it. Ha, ha, this from CC's resident Vogon-in-chief. I certainly didn't expect _you_ to understand any of this. You demonstrate every day that you haven't even the _capacity_ to understand it. That is ok, i pity you. And no, I don't plan to meet you at the trailhead for a fistfight. You might hurt me. By reducing a topic as complex as our current economic crisis and the appropriate response to a few simplistic statements, when clearly (to thinking people) it isn't simple, and to introduce topics with prejudicial and inflammatory language, well, ye reap what ye sow, I guess, only jmo cannot take the heat. I think at this point you should tell me to FOAD. It will destroy my argument and prove your brilliance beyond doubt. That is what its all about, correct? Now you're publicly implying that I've somehow threatened you at some point in the past and are (falsely) claiming that I end discussions with FOAD? Wow; you really are a little pussy. I think you either have me confused with the resident angerlibtard GGK, or are trying to make some sort of crybaby statement because I called you out on your oft-demonstrated arrogance. Please, share with us all your brilliance-resume--the one that you believe those with whom you disagree lack. I think you're giving yourself way too much credit.

You use quotation and speech marks more than the BBC. And the statement below struck me as wholly arrogant: When liberals use this simplistic and, frankly, antagonistic strategy, they shouldn't be surprised when thinking people eventually throw up their hands and get nasty about it.

No. Conservatives lamented that his most ardent supporters were carrying on as if he were some sort of messiah--and many still do. Now reality is settling is and I think the cock is about to crow for a third time.

Yes. Um, 'cept for the part about the sheep.

I've never gotten a job from a poor man.

A small victory in the war against enviro-leftist oppression. Congratulations to rural King County residents!

Great idea, Obama. Once all those stinkin' rich 401k people have been properly dealt with you can move on to another group? Your "plan" is either utter economic incompetence or a deliberate attempt to destroy capitalism.
-
Unfortunately, Obama believes the trees should all be kept equal by hatchet, axe, and saw.

Best (non-technical) Peak to do with my dog.

Not sure which part of E-Wa you're scoping out, but Mount Aix might be a good choice if the road is mostly melted out by then. -
I think Pink's recent quip, "Ron Jeremy goes to Alaska" to describe TTK's egobiography was pure genius.
-
Apparently you don't read well. And I'll take Limbaugh's half-wits over Obama's sheeple any day of the week. You're not, by any chance, related to Julio are you?
-
Comparing William Jennings Bryan to Rush Limbaugh? I think this may be a first--anywhere. While Mencken's analysis of the former was correct, I don't understand why you would chose this quote for a demonstration of your thoughts. Whether or not you like his style or ideas, Limbaugh is a political force. TTK is essentially correct. This time.

You were doing pretty well until those last couple sentences when that Russian/German blood in your veins once again boiled over. FYI, Clinton began the deregulation of the banking sector. Were you even here back then?
-
There you go again, Matt. It was KK that brought up WWII, not me. As for the topic, I really haven't read enough or heard enough diversity of opinion in class to know if there is truly a cause and effect. I know this is the broadly accepted scenario, but it would be nice to hear more of the how and why. I'll get to it, I'm sure.
-
You mean diagnosis?
-
Hey TTK, is this one of those angry Republicans you were talking about?
-
It's ironic that both Harding and Coolidge (Hoover's two predecessors) were laissez-faire in regard to economic policy. I think there are a lot of analogies that are applicable to today's events, but I think the history is pretty clear regarding the path Hoover (Bush) began and FDR (Obama) ratcheted up. It didn't work.
-
Widely credited does not equal reality. What FDR did do right was to articulate a hopeful future even if, in practice, he didn't take us there (economically).
-
I have no idea what this is about, but please, don't let me stand in the way of your straw man stuffing project. Carry on.
-
That's difficult to say, but I do understand that a noun is never used in the place of an adjective to describe another noun. I also understand you were attempting to portray yourself as some kind of intellectual giant by using words like metric in its verb form, but, honestly, the smart lefty minority is nowadays so interchangeable with the poseurs that it is often hard to tell who is the real deal. You're most certainly not.
-
You find? sure, the fringe left is driven by fringe theories--same as always, just like the fringe right. your point? That the left is being driven by its fringe! Not Obama, necessarily, but the Dem congress for sure.
-
Read the entire thread slow-da-boy. It's not very long yet, so you should be ok.
-
I find that the left these days is driven, primarily, by fringe conspiracy theories--and anger. Limbaugh generates more anger from the left than he garners among his own listeners and supporters. As usual, you have it exactly backwards. BTW; while Stewart is funny, most lefties are not, which is why they can't seem to gather enough of an audience to make a go of it financially. (Think Al Franken/Air America.)

...Herbert Clark Hoover (August 10, 1874 – October 20, 1964) was the 31st President of the United States (1929–1933). Besides his political career, Hoover was a professional mining engineer and author. As the United States Secretary of Commerce in the 1920s under Presidents Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge, he promoted government intervention under the rubric "economic modernization". In the presidential election of 1928 Hoover easily won the Republican nomination despite having no previous elected office experience... Hoover deeply believed in the Efficiency Movement (a major component of the Progressive Era), arguing that a technical solution existed for every social and economic problem. That position was challenged by the Stock market crash of 1929 that took place less than 8 months after Hoover's taking office, and the Great Depression that followed it which gained momentum in 1930. Hoover tried to combat the Depression with volunteer efforts and government action, none of which produced economic recovery during his term...
