No. Not really. But I'm sure we can all agree that a moderator outing a poster in a most vindictive manner--ala full name and city--is wrong.
-
It would seem that you don't join the Spray forum much because you can't keep up, period. Unlike Tvash, many of us have jobs. And wit aside, we also often express political opinions that would not be looked on favorably by existing or potential employers. I've protected the identity of people I've vehemently disagreed with on this board because exposing them could mean a smackdown from their commanding officer. If Spray offers an (almost) consequence-free romper room for borderline psychotics, a sounding board for undigested opinions and ideas, or a place to pin up nasty pictures of Pamela Anderson without regard for your real life, job, family, googleprobe, then who cares? If maintaining privacy and people's freedom to speak their minds by protecting identities scares you, why don't you run back to the other DOZEN forums on this site where nobody gives a fuck? Well said for once. As for me, well, my real name is Patt Gallerkins. There you have it.
-
I would think that you, Ivan, would be concerned about the "outing" here as much as anyone. Were it that your infamous Ptarmigan Ridge climb were enjoined with your true identity...well, you see what I mean. So why is it ok for moderators like Matt and assorted tools here to employ this tactic?
-
When you start showing an even modest ability to show an accurate picture of the reality in AMERICA, I might start taking you seriously. More than a billion without health care in a nation who's political system you envy. I'd say we're closer to the ideal here than the folks who built that shinny white train. But please, don't allow reality to wake you from your own private China. Stick to the Global Imaginary--it's a better fit for you.

Given that these threads are usually started by either Raindawg or you in an insulting manner, are you asking me to delete the entire thread? This isn't a JOB, since I don't get paid, and babysitting your pet rant is not really what I want to do for hours a day, every day. Your rants are not an asset to the site. You want custom service? PAY ME A DECENT WAGE. I’d be happy to moderate a forum on climbing ethics and style. I’ll work for free. How refreshing would it be to discuss one of the most important issues of modern climbing in a spray-free forum? There is no lack of interest in the topic….I suspect such a forum would generate plenty of traffic, pleasing both site owners and sponsors. I also think we’d hear from a greater number of participants representing a broad spectrum of attitudes in a forum where spray is not tolerated. You would sell trillions of micknuggots.

My heart goes out to the guy's family. Died doing something dangerous that he probably loved as much as life. But you do have to wonder about Canadian engineering...

yeah? What pic? I know, lets all guess what it would be! My guess, it was this tattoo: That's funny. Feck pulled that cartoon when I posted it a couple months back--and sent me a warning PM. What an oaf.

Being an otherwise proud Tacomaite, I can tell you exactly what happens after the last spike is pounded and the unemployed start hanging 'round the city. It's not pretty. My point is, Prole's shiny Chinese train doesn't even begin to show an accurate picture of the reality in China.
-
Um, yes: Bullet trains for China's 300 million party-loyal urbanites--even as her other 800 million citizens search for their next meal. Thanks for clarifying your utopia.

Honestly, I cut and pasted this quote straight from my PM's. Since I happen to believe in this dictate, and since its source is a man even more important than OW....even more important than MattP himself....I'm going to protect his identity. OMG!! You're not saying it was an... ...wait just a minute. More important than MattP? Now that's just crazy!

Are you sure you haven't misquoted this individual? As I recall, he said: "People have a right to anonymous man sex in Turkish bath houses."

The world is not yet ready for throttle-by-wire. I'll stick to rod & cable, thanks. FJ60 Landcruiser-->Camry wagon-->T100 Pickup-->Tacoma Pickup-->FJ Cruiser. Almost 30 years of Toyotas. No complaints.

84%- where the fuck did you get this number? fox news? and how many out of your 84 have only so-called catastrophic coverage, which btw don't really cover anything. and since you are such a fucking duche-nozzle expert on healthcare when did you have to pay any medical bills. by the way you spew your bullshit not in the last decade. Fucking psycho.
-
Why would we want to revive a dead, so-called healthcare bill that is going to deny individual rights and apply additional taxes to the 84% of Americans who are presently covered? Why have Democrats locked out Republicans until now? Can you say Massachusetts? Why did Obama and Pelosi lie to us about "keeping the coverage [we] have?" Why didn't Obama C-Span debates as earlier promised? This bill is D-E-A-D. Appearing on TV with the teleprompter-in-chief would be pointless. BTW: why haven't we heard anything more from his "jobs summit" back in November? Because it was just a ploy.

I understand that you and Matt are friends, but don't let that blind you to the fact that he can get pretty nasty. "Outing" is a tool he's used before, but in this case he used it in an especially despicable manner--full name along with home city--in an effort to intimidate someone he doesn't like. If you guys want to be a website for elite climbers only, then, by all means, change the rules and see where it gets ya. Peace. Now, come on, Matt's not such a bad guy. Sure, he can get a little pissy, but he's pretty easy going and well intentioned for the most part. If there was a nasty contest, I think you and I would probably take home more ribbons. Sure. But you and I don't pretend to exist "above the fray"--or wear little yellow badges with an "M."

Wouldn't legally loose arguments tend to, you know, violate the rule of law, which is supposed to 'represent our values and ethics'? You're acting like the SC squeeked this one by 'on a technicality'. A law that denies a non-profit from running a political ad? Hardly a 'nit' issue. When the rule of law violates basic ethics (corporate money swamping out the speech of the people and corrupting pols in this case) there isn't any point in trying to have a legally consistent argument. Now that we're clear on where you're coming from, you may kindly abstain from selectively playing the constitution card in future discussions. -
i betcha $700 billion that we'll find WMD in iraq too Tired old argument. Besides, in OB's brave new world we speak trillion. But since you demand answers; yes, I suspect the weapons were, in fact, hidden in Chicago.

Prole started the thread by claiming this ruling was the worst since Dred Scott v. Sanford. I've already mentioned Kelo, but here are a couple of truly outrageous SCOTUS rulings that reveal the moronic nature of his thesis: Plessy v. Furgeson Korematsu v. United States -
I wager you 47 tons of jet fuel that Chicago is going to host the Olympic games.

I'm not sure if their ruling includes re enfranchisement of felons in prison, or only felons who have served their time. I would support the later, but would vehemently oppose the former. I haven't read the ruling--I only know what I've read second hand. -
