  1. The PNW is going to be well represented. Layton, Carolyn, Jay, yourself, me and my partner plus six other friends from Bend. We should set a night to have an on location J-tree pub club Spring Fest.
  2. I scored the book from a local climber. Thanks for all the offers.
  3. You bringing some good stuff to the cabin?
  4. Does anyone have the guide book to J-Tree that I could borrow? I'll be travelling there 3/23. I'll return it promptly the first of April filled with good karma. Cheers
  5. Nice pic Is that Jeff carving the turn?
  6. this weekend??? From what I heard the weather was
  7. 1000' of alpine ice.... used two tools.... Wy'East is a moderate climb on 45 degree neve' with some steeper gulleys. Are you confusing it with something you read in Alpinist?
  8. It's a big waste of time transfering data from one PC to another. Do as Timmy suggested, simply install the original hard drive into the new PC. The original hard drive will boot up in the new PC. Also, in contrast to what Timmy said DO NOT put an old hard drive (older then 2 years) into a new computer, hard drive technology has not changed much over the years. Your original hard drive will run just fine in the new PC.
  9. Jeezuschrist, Alex! 3,500 feet in 2 hours?! I'd say that's more than "decent" shape! 1,750 feet per hour on the Palmer is definately a good time. I'm ususally about 1,500 in boots, a bit faster on skins, and am only in decent shape. 1,500 gets you to the saddle in 2 hours 20 minutes. I'd rather stay in a comfy bunkbed at Timberline Lodge or at home. It takes me 2h-10m-11.875s to get to the saddle. Anything more is just embarressing.
  10. Read this post. Drive by Choss Fest
  11. Pat, that's definately Jason and I in the above pic. That's were we cut right in an attempt to climb the West Rim proper. We got turned back at the spot where the sun is hitting the mushrooms above and left of us.
  12. The left traversing section near the end of pitch 1 is a bit tricky. A solid .9 The remaining pitches are little easier. Try it in the summer when the sun is on it and you'll enjoy it even more.
  13. Thanks for the kick steps up the Reid. Smokeshow and I were the guys just below you. Sorry for screaming at you when you were just getting onto the exposed ridge. At the time I was getting fed up with the chunks of ice raining down on us. You dislodged a few big ones. We cut hard right at that point in an attempt to climb the main ridge. The rime on the steeps was in terrible condition. It just fell off with sugary snow underneath it. We double backed onto the line you took to the summit. I spoke with a few of the guys from the Yocum gang. Conditions on it were not good. Nothing consolidated. They all bailed.
  14. You're such a Unix geek. grepin' with the best of them.
  15. At age 16 I hit a car broadside while on my motorcycle going about 45mph. I flew through the air head first over the top of the car, while the bike remained impaled into the side of the car. I skidded to a stop in the middle of the street 25 feet from the car I hit. Luckily I didn't hold tight onto the handlebars and that no other cars where coming the other direction. Walked away from it only bruised and scraped. The bike didn't fare so well.
  16. Bill, you obviously have history and a sentimental value of Rocky. I respect your comments. It's easy to be an armchair cynic and bash Rocky, but in reality, most PDX climbers take in a few Rocky climbs every summer and enjoy the experience.
  17. There's a resturant area in the Moon so everyone can bring their teenage dates. Layton will have to sit in the back with the other Moon drunks.
  18. It's real simple: A climbing movie, climbers and Not necessarily in that order.
  19. Good choice Pat. Lets meet at the Blue Moon around 6. Slam a beer, get the tickets, resume mooning then see the later showing.
  20. Getting primed before the movie makes sense. Then after the movie reprime the pump.
  21. No one is biting because we all know what a slob you are and that you are simply looking for someone to clean up the mess you leave around the house. Hey, the SB hangout was fun.
  22. Yo Scramble, your brain is Spaghetti and your injection is blah. Go ahead and give me shit. I'm as stupid as you. Atleast I don't hand it out there for all to ream. Break out the lub!!!
  23. So here I am, late on a Friday night, I have my whole evening ahead of me to do sometime positive, something fun. I just got home from the rock gym, a good pump, the forearms are tweakin', the brain cells are momentarily clear, but the raw of the previous night's drinking dangle in the web. The tempation to disovle the draw are too strong. Clouding the stimulation of the gym are 15 gallons of TG Triple. Available, becking, just steps away. The suductive tap pours so clean and cold, refreshing and tasty, and all to my own. A junkie in his element. Crack open the snow seal and sniff away. I'm soo fucked. Steve you are so suck.
  24. Lets make this an event. Everyone get tickets for the Friday show. 2/6 7pm at Cinema 21 Touching the Void -- Cinema 21 Does anyone live in the NW burb??? I'll transport the Triple keg there for an after the movie shit face. The legacy of TG, Simpson and Yates lives on!!!
  25. Mike, now that you are a Portland brother, I'll invite you in on the secret. Tilly is the 'Debbie does Dallas' of Portland. Pack your pro. Train kept a rollin' all night long, train kept a rollin' all night.
