Granted there are differences in conditions year to year. As a guide as to what is good at certain times of year. Mt. Rainier " A climbing guide" by Mike G. is a good thing to look over before . It will tell you lots of good stuff. I continue to read it when I have nothing better to do. I am a bit of a freak however.

Well I look at it this way. When I got my first annual permit 2 yrs. ago I was surprised that it was for 12 months and not ending with the calendar year. So we got the bonus first.

I detect a little disrespect for the late July D.C. experience. You will be able to move freely it isn't that bad. With the waist high ( in some places) boot track I liken it to adventure in a controlled environment. I have left muir by 11pm and got to the top by sunrise with time to spare. The only hassle was making way for the others on their way up while I was coming back down. It will be hot and miserable also so go neked with a little fleece over the weiner. -
They will get you to the summit ( weather permitting) but you will do minimal thinking for yourself, lotta money
-
You guyssssss!! Well faxed the request off couple of hours ago......more to come

As long as he is buying

Eating crow is an acquired taste. Seems that I had it all wrong about the solo permits. Thanks for the info I will try the proper channels before I go OUTLAW on the D.C.
-
They probably wouldn't give me a solo permit anyways . I have been up to my waist in boot track on that route, feels pretty safe overall to me.I would gladly pay for one but you can't just show up and say " one solo permit please" waiting period etc... just something I have wondered about for a while. I am sure Trask is pretty right on

yes , thanks but what is the penalty
-
Funny you should mention that

A dare , thats funny. Nope, doofus here got in a hurry and was trying to clear the grass out of the exit chute. It was sewn back and it looks like E.T.s finger right now. Can't quite get it up my nose yet but I am optomistic . Back to the subject , I figure low crawl past the ranger hut up at muir, under the cover of darkness get in the ditch and get across the cowlitz where they can't see ya from the hut. On the way back get 40' behind a rope team while crossing the cowlitz again and maybe it won't be noticed that I am not roped in, any suggestions

Nursing a finger that I stuck in a running mower 3 weeks ago. I think it is back to where I could probably self arrest without blacking out from the pain. This was supposed to be the summer I moved up from the D.C. / Emmons routes . God is talking to me.
