I've met a whole lot of suckers from Colorado and California.. I even used to live on different sides of the Sierras myself.
Anyway to the point of climbing through bushes slide alder and rivers-
It's a way of mountaineering here. It's expected. I've seen plenty of people from other states thrash around better than locals here. But I have seen a lot of whiners too.

Bring lots and lots of alcohol and any kind of sedatives or hallucinogenics Otherwise nobody will want to climb with you
Last season Jens and Ben did a 5.10 route on Nooksack Tower....
I know plenty of people that can climb 5.10 Alpine but there just are not too many superb lines left. Seems like Beckey and Nelson mopped most of em up already
I dont think a magazine should have to show only the latest new difficult climbs. I like moderates as I would guess most people would. Great sharma did 5.15 b well it aint gonna make my day.
Seeing a peak or route I never knew about etc that is doable gets me more excited than any 5.13+ flashed alpine route to be honest.

I wish I could be a mountain climber but I am too much of a wussy to try it.
Please do the world a favor and shoot me between the eyes.
Now you are coming to Flash
Our experienced, seriuos and rigidly solid climbing leader was the key to our success. He found the rappel anchors and studied the route well. Beckey books says go directissimo but we chose the more difficult line right up the ice to the right.
Of course we used the blue bags !! They work great for gorp.
Here was the approach vehicle in motion. Taken on our speed ascent from the Park Rangers
