  1. I think while Chuck was on the route so were two other parties. PP
  2. There are some existing problems on some of the boulders on the hillside. I disagree with CBS in so far as vegetation removal can be very intrusive. It is often percieved as more of a problem than bolting - I say be reserved in your brushing if the rock is visible from the trail. PP
  3. Last night on UWTV a Dr. was giving a talk on shoulders. He was explicitly asked what excercises were bad and he demonstrated one he would not do. It was basically front/lateral raises with the hands above the shoulder to straight up.
  4. Busy day at work and I get home and there's a pm asking why I didn't prune this thread. So I just did and deleted a few good posts as well. Offwhite corrected the spelling of JD's name. I corrected the thread title. RumR noted the article was in Rock & Ice Peter Puget made a couple stupid posts saying that JD once let him and a friend use prototype BD cams and some of his fav JD routes in the Valley. Specialed and CJOO1f noted that the interview was way too short and the magazine sucked. (Good info as I was thinking of subscribing to a climbing mag) Dru & RumR traded insults and pope joined in for a jab of his own. THis is a good time to state the obvious: Don't spray in this forum. PP
  5. Cleaning out my garage I rediscovered my turntable and thought why not give the girls a glimpse of the past, so I set it up and played some albums. My rediscovered classic(s) is "Live In the Air Age" by Be Bop Deluxe and "TheModernDance" by Pere Ubu. The 70's rocked! Whats yours?
  6. Hey C HucK did you look at that link?
  7. Oh ya he's a winner: Asked if he plans to vote for Bush in November's presidential election, O'Neill said he "probably" would. "I don't see anyone who is better prepared or more capable," he told NBC. PP
  8. Mmmmmm...if only I had free time!
  9. If you drew a line straight up from Alpin's thumbs up you would hit the far left side of 3 O Clock Rock Any routes there? Is it South Facing?
  10. what's a crampon?
  11. Good thing we brought our rock climbing shoes along. It was warmer than expected.
  12. Ah Murray how low is the dollar valued from a historical perspective? Check out the attached graph. Data modeled using the Fairmodel at Yale. I have posted the link before. Check it out: the tax cuts by making employment more rewarding actually increase unemployment! What would be the effects of increasing the minimum wage? PP
  13. If you can check out the model you are considering and pay attention to the time between pressing the shutter release button and the actual time the shutter moves. I have a Canon and it is great for landscapes or someone walking on a glacier. It is worthless for rock climbing or taking little kids pictures- if the subject is at all active. Absolutely drives me crazy!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Happy Birthday! When are you gonna be climbing down here again? PP
  15. Guidebook makes it look really fun. Big trees are always a plus. All I can say I come on spring. Any pics? Anyone? PP
  16. 3 O'Clock is often crowded. Blueberry Hill sees lots of traffic but no one speaks of the Comb. It appears to have lots of great routes, so why all the mystery? Any ideas? Mattp - Any pictures in the vault? PP
  17. Dru what goofy stats did I present? Here's on ereason why the dollar won't "freefall": GOVERNMENT DEBT AND PENSION LIABILITIES AS PERCENT OF GDP (1990) ===net conventional debt=======net pension liabilities CANADA===52================121 GERMANY==22================157 ITALY====100================259 UK=======27================156 US=======35=================90 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source: Essays on Pension Reform, Max Alier PhD Thesis, University of California LA, 1997; quoted in R.E.A. Farmer, Macroeconomics, South-Western, 2002, p. 162.
  18. No I am saying you spewing BS, Dru had nothing to do with it. PP
  19. Fuzzy math Will...egads!
  20. I read this comment regarding Bush's new immigrant proposal: [/i]To all this add the following: no longer will de facto guest workers be recorded, by Census, BLS, and others, as if analytically/economically identical to native-born citizens or formally-legal immigrants. And as this happens the entire indictment -- Dickensian poverty, intergenerational stagnation, and intolerable disparities between super rich and super poor -- will shatter and come crashing down on The Nation magazine, Paul Krugman, and lots of startled others.[/i] PP
  21. Please Will; stop the insanity! PP
  22. Ah Will "minor man" Strickland - Check out the stats at: Link Or check out the attache graph. PP
  23. Actually the CCR with Born on A Bayou was a great trip tape too!
  24. The first three Talking Heads albums made the best tapes for climbing trip drives. I was reminded of this looking at my album collection the other day. –thinking “Ah I ought to go buy these CDs” My question is how do the CDs sound? Anyone ever compare the sound between these LP and CDs? In other word should I buy or wait for them to be remastered? PP
  25. Seems pretty minor. I wonder what their true dimensions are as they appear quite different upon visual inspection. I gave a ton of the old rawl 5/16" away to friend going on a trip and a coupel years ago bought 50 of the Fixe bolts. Haven't used them because of their rep. I have five old 5/16 left and 10 5.10 5/16 bits. Any offers?
