  3. One time I knew two guys that were so desperate to get high they drank bongwater... one guy I knew had the munchies so bad he ate dog kibble... I forgot the rest of those stories. huh? what?
  4. For hard aid smoking a big bomber is mandatory for fear control, unless you are speed climbing, cause it will slow you down all mellow like. For serious runouts smoking a bowl is also good. Same reason. For sport climbing... I dont think it helps. For bouldering... why else do you think the sit start is so popular? For mountaineering ... the Muir hut hot box. Nuff said.
  5. I prefer to think of myself as "experienced" rather than "used".
  6. Whose idea was it to let all these avatars post on this thread?
  7. Eh Bronco it is Tikka not Tuba.
  8. Lurking....what's up losers? Spray has been dead lately...
  9. Trad girl looks kind of wrinkly... Hollyclimber looks much better than tradgirl!
  10. I second David Parker's nomination of Bill Tillman's writings. For those that don't know, he and Odell had the first ascent of Nanda Devi. Later in life he would sail to remote regions and then climb whatever was in his path. He made the first traverse of the Patagonian ice cap from the Calvo glacier with one other man who did not even speak english. The journey took a year and involved sailing from England past the tip of South America, finding a suitable slip for the boat, walking across the ice cap and back and then sailing home via the Panama Canal. His writing style is very humorous and self deprecating. He was lost at Sea in 1977 while attempting to reach Smith island in the Antarctic. He was in his 70's at the time and still going strong.
  11. Jon Roskelly who is probably one of the greatest Americans ever (hiss if you want) was well known for telling people they had no business on a hill. Roskelly rules!
  12. Team Gander Mountain, you are absolutely correct. LET IT SNOW!
  13. I witnessed Dick Cilley downclimb a section of 11a this summer so he could rest at a stance before attempting the crux. When I went up to try the same moves I found I could barely even climb up the moves he nonchalantly climbed down. He could barely remember freeing Iron Horse when I asked him about it. I could not name hardly a climb that he had not tried or knew of. I particularly thought his Euro influenced dewRag was a fine touch of the gypsy he seems to have inside him. I liked Richard Cilley although I blew him off on going to climb the elephants perch. Hope your doing well if you read this Dick.
  14. Dick spent the whole summer here. I climbed with him a few times, felt a little wierded out around the guy, but thought he was harmless. Maybe he's just guarded now because he got the rep, but he still climbs hard.
  15. PP, Alex M was a visionary before his time. Twight has merely promoted his vision. If truth be known the Poles were really the true standard bearers. Would you agree?
  16. Right now there are 3 of the hottest girls I have ever seen climbing at exit38. So why am I here babbling on this thing again? I have no idea whatsoever. I am a loser... But anyway my point should have said. "You can critique the man and his methods all you want, but you all sound like a bunch of yapping dogs at his feet". OH and Dwayner...MY Guy is still alive isn't he?
  17. I disagree with you MattP. If Mike Tyson wrote a book and you disagreed with him would your qualifications entice you to write negative press about him? I doubt it. So if you can't walk the walk then don't talk the talk. And yes I am aware of Mark's history here in the NW and elsewhere. In the end he has made good his boasting. Better late than never I say.
  18. http://www.deceptioncrags.com/ Nice work to whoever set this up.
  19. Have either of you climbed something-ANYthing harder than Mark has? I doubt it. So what's your qualifications to provide critique or an attempt to discredit?
  20. "Addicted to MYSELF"..."Memoirs of ME"...BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for putting things in their proper light Sean. That guy Roskelly was one tough mofo though.
  21. That's a damn good one to start out with!
  22. This may sound obvious but this is a CLIMBING website not a HIKING website. I assume most CLIMBERS won't think too hard about the conditions on the Muir Snowfield. Let me tell you about the North Ridge of Baker currently....now that's an issue right now you should be concerned with.... Let's all bring about 50 wands up to Muir and get that thing back in order!
  23. Scott, Shut up. Chongo
  24. Mountain Sadness would be a big waste of time and money. Do a one on one with a qualified quide if you absolutely must go that route, and skip the kindergarten mountaineering courses. I see those guys courses all the time and they ain't sheeit!
