  1. whining. what else? go back to work, rumr! (rumr just hates skiing 'cause he can't ski 5.13's. )
  2. hmm ... really miss that last summer! i did some of my best leads up there in squish with erock at the other end of the rope. er ... i hope he was still holding onto the rope when that shot was taken! [miss you, erock!!!] some day i'll climb again ...
  3. geez, tex ... you're starting to sound like rumr!
  4. with all the tech savvy people in wa you'd think they could get any ski bum bozo to make them a kickass website.
  5. the pics are nice. i really wish i was going skiing this weekend ... bring it on!!!
  6. yeah; it was weird to get off the bus this morning and see the streetlamps still on ... winter is coming ...
  7. yeah, right. i was actually working a full-time job in a very little but very well-off ski town in colorado. and ... i also got nearly everything i bought on pro deal. and yeah, where is extremo? i want to see some jibbing!!!
  8. I'm going for a full new package this year (I think)..... decisions, decisions.... Me, too. I just gotta get the nerve to toss $1k or so at once. Carbon Surfs ooh; carbon surfs? sweet! last season i got new tele boots, bindings, and skis AND new at boots, bindings, and skis. so this year i got new downhill boots and am planning to get some new downhill skis ... as well as some dynafit bindings and another pair of touring skis ... and ... who knows what else! bring on the freshies!!!
  9. yeah ... i just picked up new ski boots last night!
  10. in case you've been waiting for them to go on sale ... part of amazon.com's friday sale: here
  11. planning the climb with your wife should be lots of fun! i'm glad you are looking to do it the "right" way by learning a lot and practicing before you go. btw, what is that dead thing in the picture?
  12. my arcteryx bibs have those too. somehow i still manage to get ski cuts outside the patches, but i would hate to imagine how they'd look if they didn't have those!
  13. personally i find the RT mildly annoying - as in i didn't like how i could feel it when i tilted my head back. and that was without a helmet. other than that it seems like a great design, though, and it probably works out just fine for taller people (or people with taller necks) than me. i really wanted one of these until i tried on one. but maybe i'm just too picky.
  14. hmm; don't know about that. there's some hippies in colorado who may be slow-talking, but they ski like bats outta hell!
  15. some old guy (i think he was the ski patrol director at some fancy ski resort in colorado where there are actually a lot of telemark skiers) told me last winter that what i was doing was not telemark skiing; it was "freeheel skiing." according to his logic, you can only actually telemark ski on old straight skis without metal edges. probably have to be wearing wool pants and leather boots, too.
  16. anything you can wear for the bc can be used "at the hill." i've found that it helps to have some "regular" ski pants if you're doing lots of hill skiing, though. (heavy hill skiing can wreak more havoc on a $450 pair of bibs than you might care for in the long run ... and sometimes it's nice to have pants you don't have to layer for those long layovers on the chair. )
  17. Oh yea? Where do you work? 1st & jackson ... corner penthouse loft with the flowers and trees on the roof
  18. bunch of yos "locals" on the supertopo website. i can give you scotty's email address - check yo pm's. i think he's still on the yosar site ... or up on a wall. ;-)
  19. hey, i work like a block away from you guys!
  20. i think i have a theta variety of arcteryx shell. it's a little dirty now, but bomber as all heck as far as durability is concerned. seem to be quite a few nice shells out there these days.
  21. what a way to do more with your life when you are seemingly given less ...
  22. if the heli stinx is the type ski you want that setup would probably work fine for you. you can make any ski work really. just curious - what length alpine ski do you currently ski? if you're on shaped skis now, you would probably ski the same length for tele. give or take ... is $250 worth it to you? it's definitely better than paying retail, but you might look around on the 'net for some deals first and then maybe make her an offer ...
  23. i like the quote.
  24. now isn't that a disgusting picture!
  25. why are so many women's skis blue? ps - if you need short skis (like me!), scotty bob's won't work for you. pps - there are too many ways to not pay full retail for a pair of skis to not ...
