  1. This statement could apply to anyone who posts here. Infact, I think I'll propose it for the CC.com mission statement at the next board meeting.
  2. Or they shoulda hitched a ride in the snow cat delivering supplies to the cel tower crew like I did.
  3. Sorry, I didn't explain that I had gone all the way to the top of the ridge and about half way down the run I encountered the dudes who had just skinned up to the top of a glade. This is across the street from Stevens Pass Resort and a popular yo yo destination, from what I gather. So it's more like if I were on a multipitch route and some goobers walk onto the route on a ledge half way up the route and stand around at the belay. Would I be a dick to climb through? No! Should I stand around and wait for them to gear up? No.
  4. BRO-BRA-How dare you suggest I have man-boobs? Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  5. ten-four
  6. You should be able to DL close to what you squat, unless you aren't squatting to parallel (which I doubt is the case). Short legged guys like me have an advantage in the DL so if you have long legs, it might be tougher. I'd imagine you could make quick progress on your DL if you focus on it, based on your squat. Peter, please do some deadlifts, right away.
  7. That's the spirit Jon! I haven't done a max squat in a long time. It chafes my pussy. (in other words, less than 400).
  8. I've been scolded for skiing past some guys who appear to be standing around, hanging out and "poaching" their line. I've also seen comments with the same attitude on teletips trip reports while researching some areas. I'm kinda new to the backcountry ski scene but, this seems pretty stupid. Is it necesary to obtain permission from anyone standing near a potential run to ski said run?
  9. You nasty bastard, that's just the kind of comment that will get you banned around here WOMAN HATER! Next thing you know, you'll be making fun of Richard Simmons.
  10. Will: My hat's off to anyone tough enough to clean 2x their body weight. That's awesome. Skykilo: It could happen. Jon: 215 on the deadlift is pretty good, for a girl.
  11. I thought all OW's were 5.9 +
  12. Will, I really hope you aren't neglecting your legs and hips. I just know you must be performing deadlifts and ass to grass squats on your "legs day". Grip and rip dude. PS: Reducing the volume (amount of sets) on your other lifts and throwing some bent rows in wouldn't hurt you either. That seems like an awful lot of volume to me (general rule is no more than 20 sets in a single workout), but, everyone's work capacity is different.
  13. Hilarious photo, is Fred sponsored by FEDEX now or what?
  14. Pretty sure I saw Sharpton in white tux at the link up there .
  15. Actually MADD or SADD or DADD or one of those anti drunk driving organizations funded an initiative this last spring to ban open containers but it was (fortunatly) shot down by the good people of Montana. Makes road hunting a little funner.
  16. Maybe the guy was unfamiliar with the gear and thought it was some new fangled tele setup.
  17. Saw this in the news today and makes me think Gore may be considering another run as VP. Check out the coverage of their news conference web page at that link. Seems pretty obvious once you see them together.
  18. I think these guys get the wakko of the year award - JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – A Erwin man was the victim of an apparent accidental shooting at a Klu Klux Klan initiation ceremony Saturday. KKK members blindfolded a new member and drove him to various areas of Washington County, ending up at a wooded area near 363 Bill West Road at about 8:00 p.m. The new member was then hung from tree with a noose, leaving his toes touching the ground, while members shot him with paintball pellets. Gregory Freeman, 45, of Elizabethton, was allegedly firing a 9mm handgun into the air as part of the ceremony. Authorities believe of Freeman’s bullets came back down and hit Jeffery Murr, 24, of Erwin, in the top of the head, exiting near the bottom of Murr’s skull. Freeman fled the scene after the shooting, but was arrested a short time later near his home and charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Murr was taken to the Johnson City Medical Center, where he is reportedly in stable condition. Freeman posted $7,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court today at 1:30 p.m. None of the KKK members were wearing their white robes according to reports.
  19. I don't know if I'd consider this a "4-season" tent, but, here's a link to a new 3 pound tent from Black Diamond/Bibler for $300. http://www.bdel.com/gear/backcountry/firstlight.php
  20. Seems like I read something about an attempt and photos on www.cands.com. Good luck finding it!
  21. I say just do nothing and let them burn, no more problems! It seems that the enviro's want all this fire prevention work done by volunteers or by the government (or for the rich to pay for it) and the Administration has figured out a way to get it done with no real cost to the public other than the loss of some trees, yet, they still complain. Selective logging is not the end of the world and it beats the shit out of clear cuts. Compromise people, think about it!
  22. I like the ID MK3 which would fit the criteria you are looking for. From what I hear, the ID has canvas corner pockets for the bottom of the poles whereas the Bibler has a metal washer that you have to shoot the pole through and if you miss, you get a nice hole in the floor.
  23. Allison: Softshells are not raingear and dirt does seem to be difficult to get out but, most people who only wear them in the field don't care about it. I have pants and jacket softshells and they still bead up water just fine. I've probably washed them 10 times in 3 years, only when smelly and they look like I've crapped myself. They hold up to abrasion and bush wacking much better than a hard shell, and if it's raining, I go home or break out a rain jacket. They shed snow just fine. The main reason I like the softshells is breathability, they seem to be much more breathable than goretex and I sweat a lot so I stay drier with the Schoeller type stuff and don't have to worry about the random shower or wind soaking me from the outside. Check out the Castor jacket by Mammut on www.sierratradingpost.com it's said to be the only seamtaped softshell on the market. It would be interesting to find out what the real difference is bewteen Patagonias DWR and say, REI's or MEC's. That could account for part of your problem.
  24. Just had one last night. It's just ok, a little sweet for my taste.
