Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't exploring old mines exceptionally dangerous?

Climbed in t-shirt all day Saturday and sunday. I love Smith in February.

I've never done LR, but from what everybody says, this seems to be the case...the crux is the length of the route and keeping an eye on weather, etc, since that can be tricky from tha side of the mountain. Being in good shape and moving quick are probably your best bets. I would second the NR of Adams recommendation. You get nearly 10k or vertical from trailhead to summit, it's a reasonably long ridge (*nothing* like LR, granted) and you get altitude. I did it in like half a day, so if you are in shape for LR, you should definitely be able to do that. Is there any real glacier travel on the N. Ridge? Is it a good solo?

?? i have a hard time seeing the similarity between the two, but i guess i've never actually seen liberty ridge w/ me own two eyes...i certainly wouldn't consider luethold's as a classic Agreed. Leuthold can be done in hour and half from illumination rock if you are in decent shape. Go climb something you want to climb the week before. As far as acclimatization for altitude goes climbing something the week before is likely to make no noticable difference.

Dude that sounds sweet!

Or you could pass on that and just get drunk.

Probably, but it is not a very effective weapon in a solid form, so it is most often found as a liquid. Until someone comes up with an effective dispesion tool then ricin is not a very scary weapon. The exact colors of these types of compounds is kept somewhat quiet so the stupid masses dont start sending talcum powder in envelopes. Oh they do that anyway. For example anthrax is almost certainly not a white powder. There for allowing first responders a very quick tool for figuring out most hoxes. Although anyone with even the slightest scientific back ground would know where to look to find out the answers.

Although you may think it is easy to identify sugar from anthrax or other possible terrorist weapons, it is not. Keep in mind that touching it or tasting it are not an option, so you have to do other things to identify it. Sugar happens to be one of the more difficult things to identify without scientific equipment. Talcum powder however is very easy to rule out. Also it is somewhat understandable that their are so many incidents given the medias hype of antrax, and the general publics complete lack of knowlege of anything.

Wishfull thinking. Have you ever been to the northwest in May? You might climb them all, or you might climb nothing. If I was you I would come up with a couple of backup plans on the east side of the mountains. Take a look at some of the stuff on DragonTail Peak, Colchuck Peak, or Mt. Stuart, as weather bail out options. The climbings better on them anyway.

Or just get there late night on Friday and there is no entrance fee.

I would be very interested if you are looking for a partner on the route.

I really dont see any reason to use film with a higher speed that 100 if you are on snow. I have only ever taken Velvia 50 to AK and had no problems. You may want to pick up a roll of velvia 100 for darker light situations.

There are lots of things that will kill you if you inhale them in enough quantity. I am sure they are refering to amonia that is found in most meth labs. Everything else that is found in a meth lab can be found in a combination of your basement, garage and under the kitchen sink. I wont list them out because that might encourage someone.
-
Meth labs rarely ignite anymore since most meth cooks stoped using ether years ago. Meth labs are not nearly as dangerous as the media and cops would have you believe.

Wow. Looks like some killer boldering

Learning to ride a bike without training wheels... Dad - Ok I am going to hold on to the bike to hold you up and you pedel. Me - (not wearing helmet) OK I start to pedel while dad pushes... Me - Dad are you still holding on? Dad (from quite a distance away) - No I let go a while ago. I then panic and crash in to the pavement. Repeat several times, and I learned to ride a bike. I still dont wear a helmet. How the fuck do kids learn to ride bikes now when their over protective parents are too scared to let them out of the house.

You guys are soooo lame "Cool lets diss on bouldering and fairly good photography because we are nob chuffers and can't boulder V1!" Now I've never really gotten angry on this site or in person, but you guys need to seriously grow up! I'm not an alpine climber, but I don't rag on it or say your photos are lame now do I? What makes it even worse is that you guys are adults. I'm fucking 19 years old, where is your maturity? Seriously why don't you liek bouldering or picture of people bouldering?? Oh sorry. I forgot. Dude! boldering kicks ass man.
