quote: Originally posted by Tommy: Jens, I have been climbing in the cascades for 13 years and have seen a lot of stuff we could huck off of, the problem is that landing areas are few and far between... We need a good safe landing area and possibly alternate landing areas... As for the climbing/rapping... that's not an issue, I got into BASE with the idea of a quick way down from climbs... Climbing is still my number one passion. Thanx Like I said to BASE jumper D-Dog a few weeks back, East side of Slesse. Perfect launch from the halfway bivi, overhanging 1000' drop and nice flat slabs to land on (if the pocket glaciers gone)

there is a lost and found forum specifically for posts like that one... sk trying to clutter up a serious discussion, now now

quote: Originally posted by Rodchester: DRU (and others) 1) "Paki" is a racial slur. Well onl;y in certain parts of Canada, not in the US or in Pakistan. I work with a Pakistani here in my office everyday and according to him and other Pakistanis I have met, it is not a racial slur (again except in Canada). But in all honesty, I shouldn't use it here since sooo many Canucks are on this site. So I do apologize to those Canadians that felt it was a racial slur. It wwasn't meant that way. Thanks for pointing it out Dru. Actually not used much in Canada* but much more prevalent, and considered more insulting, in Britain. * Just out of interest the local rednecks, in a case of erroneous insultery, seem to think that the proper term for either a Sikh or Muslim is "Hindu". I have no idea why.

quote: Originally posted by mikeadam: I've been slammed on this site about 50 times using my real name. That hasn't changed too much since I quit using spray avatars. When I run into people in the really real world they don't have much shit to talk. I have talked more shit here than anyone else using just the one avatar (Capt. Caveman takezs the overall crown, still, I believe) but no one ever send me nasty PMs or emails. Maybe its cuz Im such a cool guy? Or Im not sprayin hard enough? To Mattp's point, sometimes the banter gets a bit juvenile but if you have ever been in a car full of stuinky climbers on a 24hr straight drive you will know that happens in real life too. In the offline world not everyone loves one another why should we try and make our cyberworld a utopia either? You just have to remember this BB is basically just a big non alcoholic drunken free for all. I commend Jon & Tim for creating the site and maintaining its tone and the contributors who not only talk a good line of spray but go out and climb lots too. The fact is though that endless positivity and hugging get boring. Although I missed some of the vitriol last night I dont see why either Peter or Dwayner feels the need to sulk off from this BB. They should just shake their heads remember spray is spray and go out climbing together.

JON Muir is a crazy Australian guy from Arapiles who climbed Everest and wears hand sewn rabbit fur clothes. Naw you are all still way off. Here are two hints. 1) It is a guy, who is dead now. 2) It was written in the 1960's. So much for Twight, Stevie Haston, etc.

No one is even close yet!!!

A famous climber wrote this in his diary and it is quoted in his biography: "A great hardness is setting in, and I am increasingly able to treat the petty and the mundane with utter contempt...I will do many things for people I respect, and for fools nothing. They deserve to be trampled on." Any guesses as to who it might surprise you!

What is that thing on the left a premixed orange margarita??? And climb bar? Is that where you have pube club?

So Cal is a desert!!!!! It never snows down there

The funny thing about the Dwayner Peter thing is thatthey both thought they were trolling the other guy and then started to take it seriously. Trolling is trolling, don't believe the spray. If anyone calls you a nasty just agree with them and . PS I retrobolted Sabre yesterday, now it is safe for the sport climbers. Maybe this neglected route will now see the traffic it deserves.

Good to hear Tackle got rescued and is alive. After all he is the guy who defined "dry tooling" as "what we used to do in high school when we couldn't get a date".
