let's consider that much the manufacturing and industrial work that was centralized in Europe and N America in the early 20th Century has already been "outsourced" to places like Taiwan, South Korea, China, Brazil, India etc..... and unemployment is not by any means rampant here as a result. However, the jobs in these countries developed as a result of such "outsourcing" have been one of the primary causes of increases in standards of living in those countries. I think such a trend is good and should continue.

WTF, where the hell in North America did the sun rise at 4 AM this morning? Maybe in Antarctica where summer is drawing to a close.... most of the rest of the Southern Hemisphere is too far north in latitude for this to happen at this time of year.

are you suggesting that workers in developed nations should have to give up their jobs so that those in developing nations can have better paying jobs? where else do the jobs come from? are you suggesting that one should pass laws forbidding outsourcing, or how do you propose to stop it, is what I want to know?

yup they pack four cams into the width of a tcu the same size

1) sometimes the experience itself is not fun but it feels good afterwards to have done it. 2) i think you have a point. i rarely see experienced climbers grinning like they overdosed on prozac while walking down a low angle 10 foot long slab, or while rappelling off a 5 foot high cliff, or while fashion modelling shorts, polypro and seattle sombrero

How are we going to raise wages in developing nations without giving them good paying jobs? Its the same deal as farm subsidies. American and European farmers are heavily subsidized while the market is effectively closed to produce from many 3rd world countries aside from certain cash crops such as coffee.

I'm surprised that a working stiff like yourself could be so anti-union. Unions make life better for for a lot of people. Why would you be surprised that I believe in the ideal of personal merit as opposed to collectivism? Anymore, unions are simply tools for large numbers of workers to extort benefits they may not necessarily deserve from employers. It's extortion plain and simple: "give us more money/benefits or all of us are going to walk out." Please don't respond with all sorts of "unions help blah blah blah"; I've worked with several unions over my career and have no use for any of them. Why not excel and earn based on your personal merit not the coattails of someone else? Prostitutes' Unions Mexican prostitutes, especially in larger cities, frequently form organizations--what amount to prostitutes' labor unions-usually to fight exploitation by the hotel owners who rent them their cribs, or to protest police harassment. Sometimes the prostitutes' unions also attempt to work with government public health workers conducting STDS and AIDS programs. Organized prostitutes also wok to eliminate child prostitution, apparently out of moral concerns and perhaps also to eliminate cheap competition. In Mexico City, prostitutes sometimes work with feminist organizations and with political parties to lobby for legislation or regulation in their self-interest. How dare these hookers "extort benefits from employers"??????

The article was an after-the-fact defense of sport climbing by an Ontario has been sporto who edits the magazine. His contention that "sport climbing has won" was bunk in that if it had we would have retrobolted all the crack climbs like they did in France and Switzerland. It would be more accurate to say that sport climbing has become accepted as an acceptable type of climbing, than that sport won and trad lost. In fact if you look at the current scene I think you see more boldness than you did 5 or 10 years ago. Bouldering leads to highballing, highballing leads to soloing and an acceptance of trad falls, leading to hard trad leads. In fact I have seen a few cases where routes that would have been done as sport 5 yrs ago are being done as highballs now. How long will it be until bolts are removed from the Fly now it has been established as a boulder problem? -
my current rack is mostly tcu's, camalots and WC zero's but if i was starting off today and wanted a full rack of cams I would buy DMMs and WC forged friends from MEC where they are cheap.
