  6. if you bring music, you can only listen to music you brought. if you bring instrument, you can make whatever music you want. has to be small instrument to be effective - guitar, harp, tuba too big. flute, harmonica, bagpipe if you deflate and disassemble it

  10. Book buying tip for remote climbs. Go into a thrift store and buy the thickest book you can find on sale for a dollar. Usually this will be a romance novel or some L Ron Hubbard Scientology-fiction dreck. If lucky you might find Sidney Sheldon, or Danielle Steele. The ultimate page value is the unabridged author's preferred version of "The Stand" by Steven King which is like 1,500 pages long
  11. It's the Mountainers Scrambling Course roping up to go over Misery Ridge.
  12. I heard it was going to be free, maybe they figured out how much it would cost and changed their minds.
  13. Forget the Da Vinci Code but if you ever get a chance to watch "Da Vinci's Inquest" on CBC its a pretty good TV show starring Nicholas Campbell as a Vancouver coroner.

  18. Exactly. It has been known to snow 8 feet in 2 days in June on the Klinaklini. It's one of the few places in North america that is predicted to have advancing glaciers under many climate change models.
  19. Why the fuck would you bring all your own food to Squamish when Canadian food is cheaper than American by 30-50%? Save money, buy Canadian.
  20. yeah they is pretty cool even in summer According to Don's guide this is a WI2 pitch in winter. It's too bad according to Adrians site that Monmouth did not freeze up even in the most recent cold snap.
  21. i'm gonna be in squamish that night
  22. i only use pure snow
  23. Abbeys best books are Monkey Wrench, Des Solitaire, Down the River and the Brave Cowboy, more or less in that order. Black Sun rounds out the top 5.
  24. shames is about the same distance north of wadd that vancouver is north of smith rocks and 2500m lower
  25. I kept thinking about this and remembered the Automatic Snow Pillows! Here is the list of sites. http://wlapwww.gov.bc.ca/rfc/river_forecast/pillows.htm The closest sites to Waddington is the Upper Mosely site which is located not far from Whitesaddle Air. You will see while most of the snow pillows are recording snow water equivalents close to record minimums for this time of year, Upper Mosely, and also Burnt Bridge Creek in Tweedsmuir Park, are recording snowpacks not far below recorded MAXIMUM. I am guessing there is a zone around Waddington to Monarch where most of the precip this winter has fallen as snow rather than rain.
