The guy Stefan is talking about, is dual Swedish/Canadian citizenship, and is angling to get a Hilleberg distributorship, so every chance you get, he tels you how good his Swedish tent is. That said I also slept in that tent and it does rock. Its also one where the poles go in the fly and then the inner is suspended from the fly so its easy to keep it dry inside while you set it up.

I heard there was a nice steep cave on the coast... only problem is the smell... the sea lions make good bouldering mats though...

Yes.... and to add to the comments above, I dont think the trees in Squamish are very old... Kevin Mclane has period photos from the 1920's showing the Chief almost completely treeless, so most of the vegetation there is less that 80 years old not 1200. we could always take some dendro cores and see, I got a borer here somewhere. The Squamish Lichen seems to regrow fairly rapidly too. You can see then tip of a 1960's bolt hanger sticking out of the lichen on "Pineapple peel" on the Apron, if you know where to look. As for endangered species I steer way clear of peregrines, they fly faster than I can climb and they have sharp beaks. One of them tried to steal my toque once, but that was a misunderstanding., It mistook my toque for a marmot. As for the dolphins, I hear John Lilly was developing a prototype flipper-operated keyboard as part of his Ocean-wide Web plan before his recent death.

I'm not interested in more references to "The Great Canadian Knife." I am however interested in moderate route suggestions from 5.6 - 10b with aid up to A3. Thanks for the help. Jason I just saw in On The Edge Magazine 114, that Iker Pou (3rd ascent of Action Directe 14d) and his brother Enaki, did the 2nd free ascent of the Great Canadian Knife last summer...

Nice photos you have in there there by the way... you get a deal, $30 in CDN or USA $$, so buy Canadian! im just waiting to take photos of Ray Borbon for the next edition.

I saw a snake climb a finger crack once. i was curious to see how its done cause snake has no fingers. Well, he just gets in there and chimneys. No kneepads either. Old skool to the bone. If snake can do it I wonder if dolphin could? The escarpment is a choss pile anyways. Especially with that Project Grizzly guy getting knocked down it by bikers anyways.

you know... one of my atmospheric science profs did find a strongly significant correlation bwetween Vancouver weather and day of the week. more car pollution from commuting = more condensation nuclei = more fog and rain. it peaked on Wednesday/thursday and declined by saturday afternoon. this research was even published in a major journal of atmospheric science.

Why not just buy an old school bus, drive it there then puncture the tires so no one can drive it away. Sleeps a dozen or so if you dont cut the seats out, otherwise 30.
-
Just buy a bivy sack and shovel and spend the rest of the money on beer. You could also check out the MEC Snowfield. Cheap quality. Really durable, its hard to wreck them but I managed to after about 8 years. Better for snow than rain actually, IMHO cause mine leaked after about 2 years, even after I seam sealed it. Those new MSR tents might be good? Mtn Hardware tents are durable but real heavy from what I hear. but you get a window to look out of at the polar snafflehounds pillaging your food cache.

one time coming back from smith we stopped to boulder somewhere in the Gorge. unfortunately some dude with a cardboard thermarest and 6 shopping carts was living in the cave we stopped at and all the pockets in the basalt were full of broken glass, used condoms and shotgun shells.
