  1. Arcteryx gamma lt has been very good to me I have worn it in a downpour and it kept me dry, but it did retain some water. Does not insulate too well once it has absorbed water. I generally always have this in my bag opposed to my gore tex in the spring/summer/fall. Have taken it on 1/2 my winter trips this year. Only downfall is no hood. You should check out what Mammut is doing, the Ultimate Jacket looks like one hell of a cool item! Im going to try and get a pair of the Courmayeur Pants in the next week or so.
  2. I plan on going to Smith Rock this weekend for the first time Hope the weather turns out to be nice
  3. Ultimate! (with echoes and stuff like they use with Kingdome motorcross events, etc)
  4. It's still a good deal for folks who wanna buy stuff and save $$ BTW - the title for this forum is "Local Gear Shops" "Find out the scoop on all your local gear retailers... when the sales are going to happen, and what are the latest specials. "

  6. Went up this Sunday (3/16) abd was amazed that we could drive all the way to the TH. Only a little snow stopped most people about 1/8 mile before the TH. When we went up a few weeks ago we had to park at mile 3.5 out of 7 because the snow was so deep. I was able to skin out of the lot, but a few spots I had to take them off as we headed up the trail route instead of the north side route (most direct). Once we were at about mile 1.5 we were hitting dirt again, and lots of rocks exposed. I trashed my skins. The upper part of the mountain actually got some snow, and it was snowing there today at about 3500' on up. Had to use the new snow saw to cut the ice out to gain access to the lookout tower. Had some decent turns up top, but there was a crust layer underneath the new 2-3" of snow that deposited last night. Only set off one minor loose snow avy on the way down since we opted for the north side route for the return Spring is right around the corner, but where was winter?
  7. Talked to my friend up in whistler yesterday and he said the upper mountain was closed all day, too much snow too fast that they could open the operations. Gonna be some good riding for folks up there today and tomorrow! I know sverdina headed up last night (im jealous)
  8. Went for short/quick tour this morning up to the ridgeline above Snow Lake. Majority of the snow that I tested seemed quite consolidated and only sheared off 2 feet down after the third pull consistently. 5 feet down there were only about 2 layers before you hit the Late January snowpack. Even though it was mashed potatoes coming down, it was better than snowshooeing as my friends did. I aim to never wear snowshoes again. Tons of avy debris all over the place though, just another day in the source lake basin, not sure when those came down, but there were freakin big - even though they did not come all the way down to Source Lake.

  11. went to stevens yesterday (Friday) and it snowed the whole day with little visibility, but the snow was pretty good on top of seventh, but a little wet down at the bottom went to alpental today (Saturday) and got freshiez off of chair 2, but once again the visibilty was real poor, and the snow was great up top, but slushy down below. Let loose quite a bit of loose snow on a traverse up top near denny and top of chair 2. Tomorrow should be awesome for anyone going out skiing, or doing the rando race. Supposed to be sunny according to NOAA.

  19. I did? When was that?
  20. Skied Saint Helens on Saturday, hardly anyone was up there. Had the summit to ourselves and had a good ski down to the parking lot (almost all the way, dry trail and pavement the last 1/4 mile)
  21. Went to Erie on Wednesday and had a blast down at orange wall, really cold that day though so the rock was freaking frozen. Green Tangerine (10b) has a wet start right now, so it seems like a 10d start to get around that wet streak. Gator (10a) the far left route is freakin cool, nice easy boulder start to a high bolt, and then it gets a little thin, and then the overhang is a sweet stemmy section. The 10c to the right of it looks like a real nice line as well. good times
  22. This might help, but pay no attention to the old directions smoot has Static Point Trip Report
  23. "Scot'Lambonesworkplace" That's by far the coolest name so far, right up there with Pot'teryx
