  1. Yeah, ditto that question for a 5' 11" 160 #'s. And I got dibs on JoshK's skis!
  2. So do I get these things or what? Gotta get ready for the spring ski-in!
  3. Yet another climber not up to Mr. Doo's exacting standards... Next!!
  4. Climb: Static Peak-West Ridge Date of Climb: 3/21/2004 Trip Report: Static Peak (not Point) None of my usual partners will ride with me to the mountains anymore, due to my habit of eating grapenuts and yogurt while driving, so I had to find a new face. I got Klenke, bushwhackin' peakbagger extraordinaire, to accompany me Saturday. I suggested Static Point. He countered with "Peak". Here's a photo Klenke PM'd me of the Point and the Peak. We went for the left skyline ridge. We drove up to the (closed until 4/15) gate at Olney Pass. While driving I ate granola with milk instead of the usual and Klenke didn't seem too upset with that. We rode bikes to the usual Static Point parking spot, stashed the beers in the creek and headed on out. It started out pretty steep, with mild bushwhacking. Just a couple of cliffy spots to get through. Klenke, in his element After about an hour we were on consistent snow, then it got hard and steep enough for crampons. We climbed up through the trees right of the steep snow face in the above picture. It got pretty steep where an arrest would be unlikely, but it was good cramponing snow/ice and you just about always had a tree to grab. We broke out onto a narrow ridge corniced on one side and steep granite on the other. Got to do some bomber handjamming with gloves to get over one steep spot. Cool! fun narrow ridge Very windy at the top, but killer views for such a dinky peak. view South view East We downclimbed our ascent route. Then we were gonna go bag some blobby peak to the North at Klenke's bequest, but then we realized we left the rope up near the top where we had contemplated rapping. Good thing we brought that rope so he could have an excuse to climb the fun part again, and I could just sit by a tree and wait instead of bagging some blob. Also I found out Mojo bars have pretzels in them! Descent straightforward. We did not get avalanched upon. Gear Notes: Crampons, axe(1), rope not used Approach Notes: Gate at Olney Pass until 4/15. Road intact to usuall Static Point parking lot, but several trees down (two large) across the SP spur.
  5. Kerry - McCain ?
  6. He's got that "outsider" cred that seems to work well initially until the machine revs up and grinds 'em up. He was a strong backer of invading Iraq as I remember.
  7. Hey Rudy, For the answer to your question, look to your signature.
  8. What do you mean? I have 1500 posts exactly. I meant that it is interesting that with respect to the Iraq "situation" countries did not tend to jump on to the "winning" team. I guess that means either there was just too much sleaze to overlook, or perhaps that we are not obviously going to be the winners?
  9. OR
  10. So what does that tell us about Iraq?
  11. He seems pretty good, but doesn't he have a bit of the "psycho" problem, or did his Repub rivals just paint him that way?
  12. The discussion will turn to "good methods for avoiding the draft", and "what's your lottery number?"
  13. Here's me on a v -2. I didn't fall off. Chalkless!!
  14. Perhaps maybe it's getting tougher and tougher to credibly support the Shrub? And yeah, I've noticed that noone ever bagged on Bush before the "mass exodus"
  15. You appear intelligence challenged (not that there's anything wrong with that). I'm just trying to spray like you asked, and you get all pouty. See if I care And here's some Mailbox peak info for you.
  16. OK, most crooked president since U.S. Grant?
  17. *** you are ignoring this user *** (Bush sucks!)
  18. "constant cry"? If I just used that *** you are ignoring this user *** button, I would never hear about Kosovo. With respect to Scott's beef with "nobody died when Clinton lied", his counterexample of Kosovo may be appropriate. He is alleging that, just like Bush, Clinton lied to the American people, congress, the world, in order to justify a war. However, is it as obvious that Clinton just made up what you called a lie, and that he knowingly lied with the purpose of deceiving the American public (about Kosovo, that is )? Did Cllnton persevere amid massive obvious dissent among both our allies and the American public? These are genuine questions, well, at least the first one is . I know the answer to the second. But anyway, Scott, you are getting us off topic here. This thread is about Bush being a lying sack of shit. The most crooked president since Tricky Dick. At least Tricky Dick got us out of a Viet Nam. What's the body count today?
  19. I think Fred Nicole was once overheard telling Conrad Anker that ze best climber is ze one havink ze most fun.
  20. Don't let the door hit you in ass on the way out
  21. I don't get it. Did Clinton lie about not boffing Monica so that it would not derail his plans of bombing Kosovo in order to solidify our country's hold on that vital region? To tell you the truth I didn't pay much attention to the whole Kosovo thing. Perhaps I was distracted by the partisan impeachment thing. Was that whole Monica thing meant as a diversion to keep the public in the dark about the Clinton powerplay in Kosovo? How many troops do we have over there right now anyway? Do we have any allies over there helping us out?
  22. I think you would have to be an idiot to not understand which lie this slogan refers to. Hint: I referred to it in a previous post in this very thread!. edited after seeing your next post I think you probably understand that the republicans made great political hay out of a stupid lie (about boffing an intern) that Clinton made. This is the lie to which I am referring in my catchy autosig. My autosig is not meant as an endorsement of Clinton lies or even Clinton himself, but an exclamation that screams that while we understand that most politicians/priest/people lie about a lot of shit, when a president lies about a matter of grave importance, like for example, invading a country without any obvious reason, it is a much worse offense. Would you be happier if I change my autosig to We need a leader, not a misleader! That does not explicitly state "Clinton".
  23. What about Kosovo Chuck? 100,000 Albanian corpses. Where are they. I heard you screaming "Where are the WMD?", but not "where are the corpses." When ya look at it that way Chuck, it seems like you are pretty partisan. You must be confusing me with someone else . Did I know you when Clinton was president? Did this site exist? How can you say I am partisan because I oppose the Iraq war and you have no idea of what I was thinking during Clinton's term (except for the fact that I don't think lieing about boffing an intern is something of major importance)?
  24. What did he lie about in Kosovo?
