ivan Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 you think mitten's justice department woulda played it this way? Quote
rob Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Yeah, it's super awesome! The eight “priority areas” are: .... .... * Preventing marijuana possession or use on federal property. hmm, like national parks? Quote
ivan Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 that was inevitable, given the wonder that is federalism - oughta make for some humorous signs at the rainier park entrance though? plenty of cascades out there w/o federal rangers routing around them... Quote
rob Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 it's still OK to toke in the Muir hut, though, right? Quote
mountainsandsound Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 There is a dick of a FS ranger who likes to hang out at the Mt. Baker ski area and break up safety meetings. I wonder what his approach will be this season... Quote
AlpineK Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 it's still OK to toke in the Muir hut, though, right? Sure is Quote
genepires Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 plenty of cascades out there w/o federal rangers routing around them... most would ask to partake. especially if away from the road. Quote

I wonder what his approach will be this season... federal law applies on national park land, but i don't know if that's true in national forests - was the FS ranger fucking w/ you after 502 passed last november? it's been fun enjoying the new liberties at beacon rock and wa pass and leavenworth and darrington and etc, etc, etc it's the beginning of the end anyway...20 years from now muir will have it's own permanently mounted bong Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I guess there are no more tweakers breaking into cars at THs, so the rangers need something to do... Quote

Not me personally, but several friends in years passed (pre 502). I didn't get up there last season, so I'm not sure what the vibe would be. In general law enforcement does not seem to have a good relationship with the ski area users or the town of Glacier. During big events at the ski area cops from multiple agencies are out and about (FS, border patrol, state patrol) and are very eager to bust people for weed. I wonder how enforcement on federal property relates to the national forest. Quote
