Jarred_Jackman Posted December 16, 2002 Posted December 16, 2002 If you see the sun, head to spring mountain. I was climbing there this last friday and the routes were perfect. Plenty of sun to go around and nobody there. If the sun comes out again, drop me a line. I think it'll be good climbing until we really get hit with some crazy snow. The road was completely passable as well! Where was everyone? Quote
texplorer Posted December 16, 2002 Posted December 16, 2002 Why didn't I think of Spring Mountain. I was here being pissed about the weather. I hear that place is almost worth the drive. Quote
ivan Posted December 16, 2002 Posted December 16, 2002 where is this great treasure, oh far-sighted one? how are the climbs? Quote
Jarred_Jackman Posted December 16, 2002 Author Posted December 16, 2002 It's on the way to La Grande, off of 84 I think it is. If you're ever heading that way give me a call, 541.564.2670, I'm always dying for partners out here in the climber's wasteland! Quote

ivan Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 i seem to recall being asked that same thing at the rope-up oh wait, that guy thought i was on speed funny thing was i was heavily sedated at the time Quote
rbw1966 Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 You should climb with the guy. You never have to say a word which is a good thing because there isn't much of an opportunity to do so. He's like one of the malfunctioning robots on Westworld. Quote
vert Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 Hermiston is a climbers waste land. However, out here in ne Oregon we hunter gathers have been harvesting new routes for three decades now. In the past nothing seemed tall enough to be worth the trip. But now that most climbers live for the "shorties" this region is bursting with activity. Problem is you have to be backcountry savvy to get the most of your experience. Understanding how to dress an elk, identify edible plants and locate shelter is definitely a must as the area is devoid of civilization and culture. Quote
