tvashtarkatena Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) I've got some 5.10 Spires, but they're a little squishy on thinner stuff. Recommendations for a little higher performance shoe that I still won't have to mess with between pitches? I'm not a shoe on/shoe off/repeat kind of guy. The cruel shoe thing isn't my thing. tvashtarkatena Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Those do look like a good all around upgrade, and i do like sticking with a brand that already fits well. Quote
YocumRidge Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Check out the 5.10 Hueco, Pat. Comfy all around all day shoes. I am currently selling mine, but it is mens US 8.0... Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 I'll cut my toes off and save some $$$. Quote
YocumRidge Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Why bother? Might as well go with flip flops. Quote
ivan Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 i'm gonna climb like shit no matter the fit, so might as well be comfortable Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 You do manage to get up things, though. I think your secret might be custom toe ventilation. Quote

tvashtarkatena Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 While the Big Man has certainly been known to hang out in a pair of aiders, he's done quite a bit of free climbing as well. This is not to say your multiple ascents up El Cap weren't done in finer style, mind you. Quote

curtveld Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Scarpa Technos are a great all-around shoe for narrow feet. I've never bought 5.10s because they seem generally wider than the euro brands - namely Sportiva and Scarpa. Quote
matt_warfield Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 La Sportiva runs narrow. I like comfy Mythos for long routes but I feel like a superhero in tight Miuras. I lose my toenails every summer as a result. Quote
Ted J Foreman Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Climbing shoes should feel snug all-around your foot, without gaps or dead space that will reduce sensitivity. Gaps around the heel or under the arch can cause the shoe to slip and slide around when you heel hook or cam your toes into a crack. Beware of shoes that are too short. Well, when I started my journey as a rock climber, I always prefer shoes that fit on my feet but are comfortable, during going through a hundred lists of shoes, I found these Shoes might be comfortable.
