Someone asked this the other day, and I have no answer, so throwing it out to all you American types: George Romney ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 1968, eventually losing out to Richard Nixon. So far, so good, right?

 

But... as Mittens keeps reminding Latino voters, George Romney was born in Mexico.

 

So... why would someone who is constitutionally inelligible for the presidency try to win his party's nomination?

Wetslide, you fool. That's actually a good question and I had to look it up. George Romney was a "Natural Born Citizen," born outside the U.S., but a child of citizens. Apparently that counts.
