Today Fars, the official Iranian (Farsi) news site, joyfully reports the results of a recent Gallup poll (in English). (Note Terahan location in the byline)

" [font:Arial Black]"Gallup Poll: Rural Whites Prefer Ahmadinejad to Obama"[/font]

TEHRAN (FNA)- According to the results of a Gallup poll released Monday, the overwhelming majority of rural white Americans said they would rather vote for Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad than US President Barack Obama. "I like him better," said West Virginia resident Dale Swiderski, who, along with 77 percent of rural Caucasian voters, confirmed he would much rather go to a baseball game or have a drink with Ahmadinejad than spend time with Obama. "He takes national defense seriously, and he'd never let some gay protesters tell him how to run his country like Obama does. "According to the same Gallup poll, 60 percent of rural whites said they at least respected that Ahmadinejad doesn't try to hide the fact that he's Muslim. "

LOL!!!! Tooo damned funny.

Of further interest and of note is that the Onion already broke this story, word for word and a few extra words as well, 3 days ago with a byline location of West Virgina! LOL http://www.theonion.com/articles/gallup-poll-rural-whites-prefer-ahmadinejad-to-oba,29677/

Anyone spot the words which the Iranians removed? :lmao:

OK, Fars took it down. Finally figured out that they'd read a satire story, believe it was true and plagerized it. Word for word. Except they didn't steal, and left out the part about their President being a Holocaust denier and executioner. Whats even funnier is that the Onion saw that their work had been stolen and reported as fact, so they put a link up to the fars news site at the bottom of their story which said: "

"For more on this story: Please visit our Iranian subsidiary organization, Fars."
(Link not working since the Iranians discovered that the story was a joke they took it off their site. LOL

"I like him better,” said West Virginia resident Dale Swiderski, who, along with 77 percent of rural Caucasian voters, confirmed he would much rather go to a baseball game or have a beer with Ahmadinejad, a man who has repeatedly denied the Holocaust and has had numerous political prisoners executed, than spend time with Obama.

Opps, forgot that part. LOL

Onion editor Will Tracy's take on it:

"The Iranian news agency, Fars, is a subsidiary of The Onion. They have acted as our Middle Eastern bureau since the mid 1980s, when the Onion's publisher, T. Herman Zweibel, founded Fars with the government approval of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini. The Onion freely shares content with Fars and commends the journalists at Iran's Finest News Source on their superb reportage," Tracy joked.
