twdirty Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Trip: Picket range - Complete N. to S. Traverse Date: 8/3/2011 Trip Report: So it took awhile but I finally got around to writing up a trip report for a recent adventure. In early August myself and a good friend attempted a 12 day traverse of the entire Picket range. The route was characterized by alpine rock, glacier travel, steep snow couloirs, and plenty of loose rock. The link below is the TR written in blog form of the sufferfest. If it goes, it goes... Below is a 12 minute video/slideshow that my buddy Joel put together highlighting the trip. If it goes... Hope you enjoy... Quote
layton Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Maybe this will give Wayne the stoke he needs for the real complete S2N ridge traverse. strong effort! Quote

Le Piston Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Stout work gentlemen! I really enjoyed your report and especially the pictures...Damn you got some great shots! Made me feel like a wimp just climbing Challenger in July...you guys are animals! Quote
JasonG Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Nice TR!! As an FYI for future trips, the NR of Whatcom isn't nearly as bad as it looks from the pass. Even with large packs, it goes pretty easily (just don't slip). Highly recommended, one of my all time favorite scrambles. I bet Anatoli is proud of your trip, no? Quote
Rad Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Excellent adventure and report. These two sentences nicely capture the Pickets experience: "As usual, the crux of the day was not what we had anticipated." and "...constantly being challenged, mentally and physically, by no fall zones, weather, steep terrain and long days, along with very little sleep in the same time period was starting to wear on us." Lisa_D Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Excellent TR! How was the traverse underneath Whatcom Peak? Quote
twdirty Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 Thanks for all the positive reactions and support! It is a great feeling to see people other than yourself get excited about your projects. Lisa- the traverse under Whatcom went pretty quick. I hear that this get tricky in late season but with the amount of snow we had it was relatively straight forward. Quote
