I was organizing some books today and ran across this photo, and had to find out the story as to why the guy set up a hanging belay 5 feet off the ground on a short pitch of climbing. Interesting....

I'd say they're staging a pic for the back cover of a guidebook. Looks cooler that way.

 

Better question is how'd that route get such a sandbagged grade? 10d my ass! Makes Sloe Children look soft.

Soo funny! I'd be scared to belay where that guy is. I once took a short fall on this route at the crux, the gear blew and I ended up right about where that guy is belaying from.

After getting the sequence wired, it feels .10d. On-sight lead of this would feel desperate.

I whimpered and hang dogged it to death the first time around but it never felt much easier afterward. I am glad to read someone (Good2Go) feels the same way I do as it alleviates the sting of the permanent blow to my ego :cry:
