kurthicks Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Never done it. can i take a 50m? or are the raps more than 25M apart? cheers. Quote
genepires Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 If memory serves right, it is all 25m or less. We had 2 ropes but put one away for the descent. Seems like having two ropes would guarantee getting a rope stuck due to the blocky nature. Quote
Blake Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 copious in-situ tat, rap rings, and horns, would allow you to make it off that thing with a pretty darn short rope and some redecorating given a little creativity. 50m is fine. Quote
kurthicks Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 ah my good man...much thanks. you just saved me 1/6 of the rope weight. I didn't know about how much 'horn-ology' there is up there. Quote
dberdinka Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Back in the day when ropes were shorter everyone had to jump off. But they were a bit tougher back then too. Quote
kurthicks Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 Yea, i know. It's just my bum knee from a crevasse fall that is keeping me from going old school on it. Quote
kevbone Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 We rapped with a 60 m and had no problem with ropes getting stuck. It is 5 raps to where you can unrope. Of course it is pitch dark when we did it... Quote
robertm Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I have done the raps with a 30M rope with one intermediate anchor that had tat on it already. a 50 will get you to the standard anchors. Quote
keenwesh Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 the bugs during those raps are awesome. like really really tight. Quote
jhamaker Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Yep, 30M is fine. I brought a pull-cord, don't think I used it. Sticky shoes were nice for the friction pitch. Still wondering why folks haul long fat ropes into the mountains. Quote
