genepires Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 j tree. lots of non climbing walking about like the biggest joshua tree (which is outside the park but damn big) and the climbing of course. red rocks climbing and an occasional forray into the town for some good kid fun (like g rated shows. blue man group for example) whatever place has a variety of things to do besides climbing Quote
robertjoy Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I'll second Red Rocks. Lots of climbing with great approaches. Interesting hiking. Try a buffet for dinner mid-week, or for kids one of the casino family amusement parks. Glimpse a showgirl! Quote
Bug Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 How about New York and DC? I gave my daughters their choice. That's what they chose. Quote
RuMR Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 we are going to DC in february already...screw NY... I'm thinking Bishop or Indian Creek... Quote
Bug Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I used to go down to Indian cr every spring. The nights are cold and the days hit 80. If it rains, hike the trails out of Squaw flats. If there are thunder showers, go watch the sunset over Squaw flats. That is the most spectacular natural color display I have ever seen. Quote
RuMR Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 Actually, I was whining not suggesting. sack up man! My middle boy asked about disneyworld, my older boy and myself both simultaneously said "No f-ing way" and proceeded to name off all of the climbing areas within striking range! Quote
RuMR Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 ok...decision is made...bishop it is... Quote
Skeezix Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 If you're going to DC, rent a car and drive to Seneca. (I'm going to DC over spring break with my kids...) Quote
RuMR Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 we'll be there in two weeks...too cold for seneca or new...gonna do the smithsonian thing after the competition... Quote
Rad Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 My middle boy asked about disneyworld, my older boy and myself both simultaneously said "No f-ing way" and proceeded to name off all of the climbing areas within striking range! Sounds like a good f-ing example you're setting. Quote
