Lodestone Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I think I've been pronouncing his name wrong. I'm not making a strange joke. I want to get his name right. Thanks. Chad Quote
goatboy Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Hmmm, I'm in agreement with Off White: "Backer" (rhymes with Green Bay PACKER.) Not Bach-Har (rhymes with Jean-Luc Picard) Quote
ScottP Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 sperm burper I doubt Lodestone was looking for an autobiography. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 We had a family of Bachar's down the road where I grew up. They pronounced it BOCK'R. I would think the closer you get to Chicago, the more that O grows a little tail at the end. Just thought I'd provide some critical input to this important discussion. Quote
Sam Page Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I lived in Mammoth Lakes, CA years ago and bumped into John Bachar from time to time. I even jammed with him once (he didn't like my guitar playing). Anyway, people who knew him personally pronounced his name "backer", as in "I am a backer of CascadeClimbers.com". However, I never heard John Bachar pronounce his last name, so I cannot be sure. Quote
MarkMcJizzy Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 He introduced himself to me in 1985. He said "John Backer" Quote
Lodestone Posted December 13, 2009 Author Posted December 13, 2009 Thanks everyone. I'm glad I asked. Chad Quote
