ScreeScrambler Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 We are are a group of climbers planning a late July ascent via Camp Muir and Disappointment Cleaver. Although there is good experience in the group, including prior summits on Rainier via this route, we feel that a more seasoned climber would be an asset. Do you know of anyone who might be interested? Quote
Hugh Conway Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 sounds like u need a guide dude, NO? Â yes, but they don't want to pay for a good one Quote
denalidave Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Might be cheaper if you just happen to be right behind a guided group by "accident". Quote
Lafayette Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 DD gave constructive advice. Â I might admit to doing the same thing when I was starting out. Quote
Dane Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I understand one of the major problems...zero communication skills. Â Anyone who takes a moment to seriously answer this "ad" will want to be very aware that guiding on Rainier without a permit is illegal and seriously enforced by FEDERAL LE with big fines and jail time on conviction. Same for all the National parks. Rightfully so imo. Accepting "expenses" might be viewed unkindly by the park service. Â Walks like a duck.....smells like a duck.... Quote
Hugh Conway Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Need to make it like Germany/Austria where the most experienced member of the party (guide or not) can be held legally responsible if an accident occurs. Quote
