Peakpimp Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Wow some of those pilots must have balls of solid brass. Quote
Fairweather Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 Looks like they designed the 777 to land sideways! That must be some strong landing gear. I think that 747 near the end scraped an engine nacelle. I'd hate to be the one who had to clean off 500 soiled passenger seats. Quote
G-spotter Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I've seen ducks land like that but never planes! Quote
NealH Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Many years ago, I had the good (?) fortune to be sitting in the first seat behind the cockpit (which was separated by just a curtain which the pilots had neglected to pull shut, so I could look straight out the front) on a turboprop jet heading into Charlottesville, VA and had a landing just like some of these--heading straight down the runway, but with the nose off centerline by probably 15-20 degrees until a second or two before the back wheels hit. Quite exciting! Quote
pc313 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 We scraped a wing tip at SEATAC in 88 on a 747 in bad weather and people were laughing and cheering, one guy said it was a "E" ride! But as any pilot will tell you landing a jet or plane is just a controlled crash at best! Quote
Mal_Con Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 We went sideways in a 727 in Minneapolis Saint Paul once. Quote
