Hello folks,

At thanksgiving I am going to Whistler for skiing and I would be interested to have a rest day from skiing doing some ice climbing instead. Is there any steep ice in condition in the area ? Any guide book ? Any internet resources ?

Any help would be much appreciated. I am also looking for a partner since my skiing friends do not ice climb. I lead WI4+.

Cheers, Ibex

I'm no ice climber but November in Whistler you're probably not going to find anything unfortunately.

my friend, some of the best ice/mix climbing is around this time of the year, you just have to know where

I don't suppose you'd like to elaborate on that would you?

The sumallo head wall routes could suffer warm temps as well. the last time is was below 0 at Foundation mines (closest remote wx stn) 0300 nov 24th. Thats at 1650 meters high. the temps do tend to invert in there. so u may be in luck! Just a heads up. its currently 2.2 degrees at foundation WX stn.
