Calder Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Does anyone know if boots and an axeare needed to get back into Prusik right now? I somehow doubt it but would like to make to sure, as I'll have some newbies with me. Also where is the best place to camp to do routes on this thing? Thanks, Quote
olyclimber Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 gnome tarn is a nice place. or right at the base for south side routes...but there bring water. Quote
Calder Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 Thats a good question. I know permits are required and I was wondering wich would be the best area to get a permit for, Snow Lakes or The Enchantments. Anyone know? Thanks for the info on the snow sol. Quote
Bug Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I have seen one ranger in the Sheild lake area. But it is a big area. Why hang in the bottom? Quote
Joe_Poulton Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Go to Nada Lake scramble up the Talus to the Northside climbs and travel west to north of the pass...there's some cool domes below the Black Pyramid and Prophet areas...when I went in there a few years back permits were not required to camp in the northern areas...then you could drop to the southside for a climb... kevino Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Yeah I was interested in doing some climbs up in that area but didn't want to deal with the permits. Too much hassle and money I could use elsewhere. Quote
bwrts Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 no permits are needed for day climbs. FYI: occasionally rangers get bored with the standard enchantment loop hike and drift over to the north sides. Quote
fenderfour Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 They will probably investigate tents/bivies in strange places. Quote
