I looked up stats on abortions a while ago, but don't remember what they "counted" as an abortion. My recollection was that for US women the average was less than 1 abortion in a lifetime. I need to read the Bible and know what God saying to me and me alone. About how I need to change, how I need to correct my life. I have never walked in someone else shoe, and can not. It is a spiritual impossibility for me, and I should not try to. If God speaks to me through his word, that is to me. Before you rip Christianity perhaps you should check what God has to say about it; give up your preconceived notions based on other people’s mistakes and start by reading the Bible. Might I suggest starting in the New Testament with the book of John? First, most Christians do not like my stand but most Jews did not like Jesus so take it all with a grain of salt. Abortion should be addressed through education and support of birth control. This would have to be coupled with reforms in Public health care and welfare. Huge issue. Not simplistic. Do I think abortions are OK? No. Do I think they should be illegal? Some of them. From here it gets really sticky but I have a really freaking HUGE issue with people who use it repeatedly as birth control just like I have a really freaking HUGE issue with people who think they can tell a raped woman she has to carry to term. you know how you think it's crazy muslims punish the victims of rape or punish women who sit in the company of men they are not related to? that's how i feel about your opposition to gay marriage. What was so different about John and others 1500-2000 years ago that what they wrote down is to be believed without question? The reason to believe them is they walked with Jesus, saw him crucufied and then saw him raised from the dead. They were willing to die for this belief, to be crucfied themselves upside down.
