prole
So you are calling Reagan, Bush, and Bush Socialists? They expanded govt at record levels. That is if you consider govt spending. Â No, no. These administrations haven't been able to design and implement any policies of their own during their 30-odd years in power, no. They have been too busy beating back wave after wave of attack from civil libertarians, communists, democrats, etc. to actually put any of their own legislation in place! Chip away at the monolithic New Deal Order that still defines our very existence? No way. They have been obstructed at every turn from solving the most pressing problems of our time by well...obstructionists! Yep, look around the world. Truly we are seeing the crisis that Communism, civil rights, and social engineering has brought upon the world. The French, by God...oooh, the 700 Club is on! Gotta go! tvashtarkatena
But, but, Reagan won the Cold War single handedly. Don't you remember how he forced the Soviets into spending themselves to death, like Japanese fighting fish when you dump the whole container of fish food in the tank and they can't stop eating until they explode? Or something like that. I dont' exactly remember how, but I know he definitely won the Cold War. It's common knowledge.
prole
No, it just drove the Soviets underground where they have infiltrated our universities, Hollywood, and somehow puzzling, al-Qaeda.

tvashtarkatena
The War on Drugs! How could I have forgotten to mention it? Oh, wait, that was Nixon, but Reagan really took the ball and ran with it! The Great Communicator didn't have enough time to win it, but he would have, had he had more time. Â Sippin' on a Rainier pounder, watching the Iran Contra hearings. Ollie North, standin' up for what he believed in, standin' up for America! Â Good times. Good times. Â It's taken a long, long time for this country to appreciate just how awesome Reagan was. The man was a GIANT. Even when his approval rating was somewhere between "in the toilet" and "in the holding pond", I always knew that somehow, someday, history would see him for the truly great man he was. Who could have predicted that a cocky little kid named George W. would come along and make it happen!
