ivan Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 hey, it'll only be kinda really damp - oughta be super-fun anyhow though! lap up the se corner? maybe the steep stuff will be vaugely dry? hell, aid climbing if nothing else! sharpen your alpine-adverse-condition-climb'n-skillz to a keen edge! JosephH Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I'm game - and possibly late Monday and all day Wednesday... Quote
letsroll Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 damn I already made plans for sunday. LOL alpine-adverse....To the max man... Quote
ivan Posted October 19, 2007 Author Posted October 19, 2007 I'm game - and possibly late Monday and all day Wednesday... cool - lets make it happen - or does this mean i have to watch 3000 lbs of moss and carpet flying off into the abyss all day again? Quote
billcoe Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I might be into a quick lap up the corner. What time you folks thinking? Quote
JosephH Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Not necessarily, see my pm to you. Bill, Ivan is thinking early around 9ish. I'm not sure as I have to check my daughter's schedule as it's just her and I this weekend. Quote
dan_forester Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 you guys are optimistic - think it's going to be dry enough? Let me know if there's room for one more on your beacon party. Quote
ivan Posted October 21, 2007 Author Posted October 21, 2007 dan - i'm sure it'll be stupid wet, but hey, it's the pacific northwest baby! sounds like more than a few folks will be out there - i'll be there round 9 w/ my friend mike - likely go up the corner, then lower down to do the upper pitches of flying swallow, then whatever tomfoolery seems right afterwards - if you can't find anyone else needing a second on the ground, bring a rope and you can tag along... Quote
dan_forester Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I'll see what the tea leaves read in the morning - maybe see you guys out there. Quote
JosephH Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Also, I plan on climbing all day Wed. - can anyone else play hooky? Could possibly change that to Mon. Thu. or Fri., - Tue. is out for sure. And definitely plan on hitting hard next weekend both days. Quote
JosephH Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Tomorrow's the day weatherwise - hopefully one of you lucky bastards can take advantage of it. I'm stuck until Wed. at the earliest but by then we lose ten degrees for the duration... Quote

kevbone Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 you guys are optimistic - think it's going to be dry enough? Â Yes. It is always dry enough for the corner. Good thing about Beacon.....it is in the gorge and its windy in the gorge....so it dries quicker. That is my experience. Quote

That is my experience. i wouldnt' imply from that though that the corner is always dry - it was damn sodden on sunday, kinda like climbing a waterfall if the tap had just been turned off on it - it's an easy enough climb though that it can be managed in just about any conditions Quote

JosephH Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Ivan, thanks. I left Mike a message saying I'd be up for a 3pm go if no one else is up for heading out earlier, and would call him and leave another message if something earlier does work out. Quote
JosephH Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Mike, great climbing with you yesterday. Man, that was a big help... Â (Anyone up for it Saturday, I'll be out and looking for a partner.) Quote
ivan Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 fun day today! man, got my ass whaled on by the 2nd pitch of wrong gull - took all the big boy cams to feel like a real hard-man, but shit it takes more than that what a strange feature - detached dish lipped free standing pillar - needed a damn near 9 inch piece? all funky beyond the lip, nothing to lie back on - was worried shitless i was going to grotescly dislocate myself if i fell - it was wider than my goddamn foot is long! whaaaaa! enjoyed the 1,2,3 - jump! experience. well, at least you can escape left into a crack, much cleaner now! Â breezy 2day - next time i go to beacon i need to bring a damn kite Quote
ivan Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 awww - it don't even look hard from there! Quote
