Dechristo Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 The letter currently has a high bid of $851k. Quote
Couloir Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I understand he's going to match it and then donate it to a fund that helps children of soldiers that have died in the war pay for college. Quote
sobo Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Doesn't appear he's going to match it, from the eBay spread. Just that the entire winning bid will be donated to the charity. Still, $851k is nothing to sneeze at! Quote
noliquidity Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I think it's Mr. Talking Points oxycontin connection thats matching the donation. It is cool though that the money is being directed where its needed. It's ironic how pointing out the negative spew that emmenates from that things mouth came full circle, and is going to benefit the people he so desperately wants over there in the first place. Quote
archenemy Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I cannot believe that anything from Rush is worth that much. what will they sell next, the RX script? JEez. Quote
magellan Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 The bid is over $2 million now. Rush is going to match it. $4 million is a big donation for a charity that has disbursed $29 million in 12 years. Quote
Couloir Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Cash is cash. He said he'll match it and where it's going to go. Do you think he'd exist if he didn't follow though? I'm no fan, but I do know his numbers. He does what he says. Â And as was pointed out, this is pretty significant for the recipient. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I cannot believe that anything from Rush is worth that much. what will they sell next, the RX script? JEez. Â This "repudiation letter" is a disgrace, reminiscent of Stalinist Russia where a citizen is singled out by the government formally. WTF? I'm surprised they didn't call him an "enemy of the state". Of course our liberal friends aren't worried about this at all. I'm glad the letter will go to a good end. Â Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 (edited) Nope. Not very worried here. Â On another note, the ACLU successfully defended Rush Limbaugh's right to privacy when the government attempted to obtain access to his medical records after his drug related legal problems began. Specifically, the state of Florida seized Limbaugh's medical records as part of their probe of his "doctor shopping spree". The ACLU filed a friend of the court brief, which was subsequently accepted in a judicial ruling which prevented Limbaugh's medical records from being used as evidence. Dechristo Posted October 19, 2007 Author Posted October 19, 2007 "bettyc588" is now the proud owner of the document for a mere $2,100,100.00. Â The starting price was $100.00. Quote

You seem to forget about bipatisan condemnation of the comment by MOVE ON about General Petraus? Both "condemnations" dealing with MOVE ON and Limbucket were a colossaol waste of fucking time. I completely agree they need to stay away from speech issues. Makes for good media play though. I dont know if you slam the ACLU as many on the right do, but please remember the Limbaugh med records case if you do. The ACLU is one of the few groups remaining that focus on the constituton and not partisonship. Quote

noliquidity Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Actually MOVE ON is incorporated, corporations by law are veiwed as an "individual". Even if they weren't though, I don't see why an indivdual would be given a more preferential status than an organized group when expressing free speech. Give everybody a syndicated talkshow then. Anyway, at least we agree it was a waste of time. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Congress should get back to the vital work of pissing off Turkey. Quote
