RuMR Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 the punk threw his swimmin' shorts (soaked in chlorinated pool water) on MY FUCKING ROPE... any thoughts on potential damage? I rinsed the hell out of it with bleach...just kidding...i soaked it several different times in the tub in fresh water... Just worried cuz i could smell the chlorine on it... Quote
tokyobob Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Just wait. Our son thought he would do his sister a favor and back her car out of the drive way (he's 14). He left the door open so he could "see better"---and promptly tore the shit out of my truck and sister's car before ending his journey on top of our neighbor's mail box--all in the space of 20 yards. spotly Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I predict it'll gnaw at ya for awhile then you'll grudgingly break down and get a new rope. Sorry for your loss Quote
G-spotter Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 hey rudy, if you beat your son live on webcam, and sell pay-per-view, maybe you can make enough to buy a new rope Quote
rob Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 2 years ago we bought a brand-new car -- our first new car ever. It had 2 miles on it. We brought it home. That week, my son decorated it with a knife, leaving deep, swirling gouges all over both sides, the hood, pretty much everywhere. I still get pissed off when I see it. Quote
billcoe Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Hey he's just a lil fella - lighten up, your rope is fine. That chlorine is so dilute it's not gonna affect your rope. You washed it out anyway. Besides, if you'd been paying attention - a new rope could have been had for $83 yesterday. Lil guy didn't do it maliciously, don't be too hard on him, just remind him of the importance and he'll never do it again. Remember, he wants to make you happy, you just have to let him know what that means: before the act, not after. Be calm and clear, things will be OK. Thats my grandfatherly advice, feel free to ignore it though:-) Quote
chucK Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 The fresh water from your tap has chlorine in it too. I wouldn't worry about it. Quote

Mark_Husbands Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 my daughter drew a picture on the side of our car too. Quote
spotly Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 My daughter drew a perma marker mustache on her 6 month old sister once. Quote
PLC Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 My son just cut the brake cable on my mountain bike yesterday with a pair of garden shears. I told him not to touch tools anymore without permission or he would get timeout. There's no need to yell or get upset; it doesn't help - if anything it just makes the situation worse. Calm down, a rope is like a $100. Big deal. If I gave you $100 to yell at your kid, would you do it? Quote
spotly Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 I agree. But I'd still check the brake lines on my truck. Quote

Calm down, a rope is like a $100. Big deal. If I gave you $100 to yell at your kid, would you do it? I'd kick the kids ass for cutting the cables on my bike. You're joking? Rudys lil fella made a mistake. Your lil fella intentionally and willfully did something that any kid big enough to be able to do (cutting a cable isn't somthing a real lil guy could do, so you son is old enough to know better) would know better, he KNEW it was wrong and is looking for an asskicking. As a minimum, ya need to grab the lil pup by the neck and get all in his face. To do less only shows you do not care enough about the kid to do the right thing, and thats the wrong message to send. Thats my thoughts. My daughter drew a perma marker mustache on her 6 month old sister once. I just did this on the dog the other day. She has 2 black eyes, with a white middle, and I connected the eyes so it looked like she had glasses. Here's a b4 pic: Quote
PLC Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 He's four years old. I'm just glad he didn't cut off a finger... With a four year old, nothing is malicious - they don't have forethought. Quote
billcoe Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 (edited) 4 years old? What does he have super spidey strength or sumptin? Added/edited: Sorry, I was thinking a big kid. And steel cable. 3-4 year olds are still so cute and innocent. For the record, I don't beat my own kids, you realy never need too: but sometimes I've gotten so in there faces that I think they wish they could have just gotten it over with. My wife can sound like a harpy as well when she wants, and between the 2 of us, the kids prefer us happy and are real nice kids to avoid the concentrated tag team intensity we can both bring when needed. PLC Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 does he have super spidey strength or sumptin? No - it was a hydraulic brake cable, so it didn't take much strength to cut it, especially with the fancy new Fiskars tool... Honestly, I was more mad at myself for leaving out a dangerous tool where he could grab it. Quote
