billcoe Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I've been tasked with buying the best color printer in the world. Like right now. Rather than cut into my F*ck off time, thought I'd just ask ya all. Pretty savy folks out there. I'm thinking $1000 limit on price though, and it would be nice to have low expense rate, and long lasting color. Help? What do you guys know about this? BTW, need 2 flat screen monitors too. 1 cheap and 1 high end. Thoughts? Quote
archenemy Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 You can get your low quality monitor free. Craigslist. That way, you'll have more $ for the nice one. Quote
jhamaker Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 My first spray post! I like Epson all in ones that use Dura-Bright or other water resistant/proof inks (for maps) Quote

RogerJ Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Isn't the best printer in the world the one printing the most fun? -r Quote

wfinley Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I have the Epson 1200 - it makes beautiful prints up to 12x18 and I'm quite happy with it. It burns through the ink though! Quote
MisterMo Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 What are your output size requirements? I've had an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 for close to a year now, which means it's about a week and a half from being replaced by a newer model but anyway: Beautiful output. Total reliability to date including zero issues with clogged nozzles when it's sat idle for a bit. No paper feed hassles ever. Claims of archival quality for the K3 inkset. Up to 13" wide, roll feed capable. Plenty fast for my needs. Under your price limit. My only second thoughts would be that it would have been fun to spring for the wider 17" or 24" carriage models on account of how fun it would be to blast out a really big print now and then. Photo printers guzzle consumables; they shoud just give you the machine to get the ink business. Quote
