foraker Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Who's got a good rec for a rain jacket for running in this weather? I've got climbing plans for next year and have to stay on schedule. Anyone try the Asics Storm Shelter? Crap, I hate running in the rain. Quote
mythosgrl Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I run in a synthetic t-shirt and dri-fit shorts in the rain. If the rain is cold i wear some light-weight nike running gloves. I don't even notice the rain after about 3 minutes into my run. Do you want a jacket because you don't like getting wet while running or to keep you warm? I find that i stay pretty warm in the rain. chris Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I agree with mythos, except when it gets into the 40- degree, f#*%ing-cold-but-not-cold-enough-to-freeze temps. On those days, I'll wear a Marmot Precip. Quote
layton Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 suck it up and run in a cotton sweatshirt like a man Quote
plexus Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 It has to get pretty cold to wear anything more than a longsleeve polypro. Gloves and earprotection do go a long way though. Â And keep a towel or spare change of clothes if you drive out to your trailhead. Quote
Mr_Phil Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Go to the thriftstore and buy a nylon windbreaker. Anything else is just a waste of money. Quote
bigwallpete Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Mountain hardwear Transition Jacket or pull over. Â These pieces are used with nothing underneath and provide wind/water proofness and are versatile for touring as well. Â My 2 cents Quote
ClimbingPanther Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 (edited) Buildings are also good at keeping the rain off. Â Of course you have to get used to seeing the same scenery every hundred yards or so. Â You might feel like this --> Â Â Oh, and another solution is to live in eastern WA Come to the dar.... uh, actually, the LIGHT side Edited November 11, 2006 by ClimbingPanther Quote
DPS Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 I actually run more in the winter since I do ultras in January and March. I wear a long sleeve poly shirt, tights and a cheap nylon wind shirt. I get soaked, but I stay relatively warm. If it is cold I add a fleece hat and gloves. Quote
chris Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 DPS is the shit. I'm doing what he says. Quote
