gapertimmy Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Fellow friends of spray- I'm in the process of giving the Trip Report system a bit of an overhaul. As such, I'm looking for feedback on the system... specifically how it could be improved, or other hot sexy features you'd like to see in your favorite venue of online armchair-digital-climbing voyeurism. TIA for any ideas. timmy Quote
John Frieh Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Be able to filter by username and/or route. Make it more obvious that multiple pages exist (I have talked to a few lurkers that didn't realize more than one page is commonly returned). Great resource! Thanks timm@y! Quote
chucK Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 A "next page" button at the bottom of the search results screen would be convenient. Quote
gapertimmy Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 Pagnation (next buttons) are on top and bottom of the super cool new version already. I'll add user/route to the list of search options. Quote
chucK Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 No pagination button at the bottom of mine. Just checked. Only one above the search results. Is it a function of the browser? I'm using Firefox. Quote
olyclimber Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 its in the new fusion board, not this one CHUCK! Quote
gapertimmy Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 not a browser issue, a keyboard->chair interface problem most likely. Quote
layton Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 anyway we can go back to old trip reports (pre-trip report index) and make em a [TR] type post so they get indexed? Quote
ivan Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 or better yet, fix all those old tr's whose pictures got annihilated in one of the cycles of evolution the board's been through? Quote
olyclimber Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Ya, i'm looking into that right now (fixing the pictures), but on the new board only. Layton: it may be possible via some automated fashion to scrape in some of the old TRs (looks like the TR function go added around Jan. 04?). we'll add that to the list of things to consider doing. I agree if we have content there, it would be nice to have it available to the TR Index. Quote
John Frieh Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 So what is the best way to get old TRs into the TR index or (in my case) TRs that are from Idaho and Montana that need to be moved? Send a PM with links? Bump them? Post links here? What if we find old relevant threads that should be moved to the Idaho or Montana threads? Bump them up? Quote
olyclimber Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 send me a PM with a link to the TR if it just needs to be moved. Quote
gapertimmy Posted October 26, 2006 Author Posted October 26, 2006 anyway we can go back to old trip reports (pre-trip report index) and make em a [TR] type post so they get indexed? I had a function for moderators to do this, but would be happy to open it up to others if they want to help build the index by tagging old TR's. I'll add it back into the new upgrade we are doing, and put a post out for volunteers to help index the old posts Quote
layton Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 here are some links to old tr's i dug up I could only search 4 years back, so i guess the rest before early 2003 are lost forever cutthroat peak east face couloir TR Bear DNB TR clean break TR vienesse peak derektissima TR carlos rossi memorial tower tr minuteman east face tr cloud tower redrocks tr the fox, redrocks TR resolution arete redrocks tr big four spindrift couloir TR Zero Gully TR Big 4 and The Fox TR Quote

John Frieh Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 How come it doesn't show up if you are looking in the forum? Quote
John Frieh Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 What can I say... I'm better at hardware Quote
olyclimber Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 No, the problem wasn't you, Proc Boy, it was the forum configuration. It was set to only show threads active in the past 3 months. I'm going to check the rest of the new forums as well. Quote
