John Frieh Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Move to Events Forum please. The Jane Goodall Environmental Middle School (JGEMS), a charter school housed within Waldo Middle School in northeast Salem, is excited to be hosting Steve House. Steve will be sharing his experiences and passion for climbing during an evening talk in March 2006 at Waldo Middle School. This talk will be open to the public for a $2 donation, with proceeds going to the Waldo Middle School’s POWER program, the after school program which provides young teens with active organized activities. JGEMS's goals in sponsoring this talk are three-fold: 1) Inspire students and families from NE Salem to get outside and be active in our beautiful Northwest forests. This area of Salem is struggling, with Waldo having the highest percentage of students who qualify for the free lunch program. Hiking and exploring the outdoors are low-cost ways to stay fit and appreciate the natural resources of Oregon. 2) Advertise this talk to the hikers and climbers in our community so that they are exposed to all the environmental work being done by JGEMS, while enjoying a talk that will motivate them. We will have information tables for local climbing and hiking groups to help those already active find a network to pursue bigger goals. 3) Raise money for a local charity which embodies the goals of JGEMS – support to the environment, wildlife and community. Interested in carpooling? Give me a shout

Gary_Yngve Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Steve gave a great show. I'm estimating we raised near $2000.
olyclimber Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Just don't clip that tat on Das Toof. You'll never get off the porch if you do.
Weekend_Climberz Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 You should post that over on the thread that was for the Seattle show dude?
