wfinley Posted January 23, 2006 Share Posted January 23, 2006 I wasn't paying attention this past weekend and drove my (BD Stinger) pick into thin ice and managed to bend the pick on the rock underneath. The pick wasn't bent too badly -- and I was able to bend it back straight by stuffing it in a crack and twisting the tool. My question is... how much did I weaken the pick when I did this? Should I go ahead and replace the pick now... or hold off and see if it gives me trouble (and carry a spare one with me)? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Nick Posted January 26, 2006 Share Posted January 26, 2006 The threads of a peened-over bolt can be repaired with judicious use of a triangular file. The bolt should back out easily if threads are re-cut neatly. If this can't be managed you can trim off the peened end of the bolt with a hack saw (or angle grinder) and back the bolt out.
