matt_m Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 (edited) My buddy (forum-fobic) just called me saying his ENTIRE rack and other gear was stolen from his Truck early this morning (Tacoma 4 Runner). He lives in Bremerton (Mannette to be exact) and asked me to post something so the community could keep an eye out for any suspicious "Gear Sales". His list from memory: Set of C4s from .4 to 3 I think Set of Camalots .4 - 3 They should be distinct because most had color matched DMM prowires on them. Double set of Tricams - pink to brown about 20 dovals crap load of draws - also distinct - one side Superflys, the other JC wires Slings - noticeable because they're of the red and white WC 10mm type - not very common Pair of Galileos Pair of Zlippers Any info would be much appreciated! wayne Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 My friend had his rack stolen twice in the last year. The last time was his ex-wife! Sorry Bummerton skank got your prize guys. Tell Second Ascent and watch ebay and Craigslist. Quote
matt_m Posted November 18, 2005 Author Posted November 18, 2005 Good news! After a search of the local neighborhood my buddy found most of his stuff piled behind a dumpster. Got his rack and most gear back, just lost a 2 BD packs, a tikka and his crappy gym rope. Not great but better than $3000 down the hole. Thanks for keeping an eye out though Quote
Dustin_B Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 my buddy found most of his stuff piled behind a dumpster. How come it seems like stolen stuff always turns up by a dumpster? Are theifs getting environmental these days and are trying not to litter or something?? Quote
catbirdseat Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Because it attacts less attention to be dumping stuff at a dumpster than along some random stretch of road. That's why. Quote
DirtyHarry Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Imagine bro's discontent when he discovered the pack he stole was full of goofy-looking wiry aluminum thing-a-majigs instead of something valuable. Quote
Bronco Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Because it attacts less attention to be dumping stuff at a dumpster than along some random stretch of road. That's why. Sounds like you've put quite a bit of thought into how to act in the least suspicious manner. Hmm...just curious, when's the last time you were in uh, I don't know, maybe - BREMERTON?!!! Quote
chelle Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 A couple years back another poster on this board recovered his stolen rack from a woman who called his phone number that he'd written on a piece of the gear she found on her lawn. Pays to mark a few piecs of gear with contact info just in case. Quote
Dru Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 I recovered a stolen jacket once by calling the cell phone that was in the jacket pocket. Too bad there wasn't a cell phone in my camera. Anyways, it pays to include a few cell phones in with your gear, just in case. Quote
DirtyHarry Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 I like to put crabs in my gear. So who ever steals my gear gets crabs. Quote

chelle Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 You guys need to head outside and take advantage of the stagnant air over the PNW. It'd be nice for you to find a distraction from today's spray fest that seems to be spreading outside that designated forum. Quote
