Weekend_Climberz Posted December 29, 2005 Author Posted December 29, 2005 (edited) Hey I wanna go too. Exit 15 off I-90 and then look for the P&R? Do I need to bring ropes and rack or just harness/tools/poons? Just bring a harness/tools/poons/helmet (definately helmet!!!) and I've got rope as well as at least one other. If you are unsure of where we meet at, check a few pages back (page 2, mid-page). The main group will be meeting at 5:00-5:15pm tonight Thursday, December 29th 2005. See you guys there!! selkirk Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Of course if we get an even number of climbers tonight it will herald the end of the world on New Years Eve.

Weekend_Climberz Posted December 31, 2005 Author Posted December 31, 2005 Thanks for those who came out lastnight! See you again in two weeks!!
selkirk Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Much fun was had by all even though we got a bit wet! We had an even 4 people so watch for Meteor's tomorrow night. I brought home the North Wall Hammer that's been sitting at the base of the crag, since before Christmas. If it's yours give me a quick message with a description and i'll get it back to you! Lost and Found Link
Weekend_Climberz Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 Err...I was planning on attending the Gary Brill Avalanche lecture at REI at 7pm on Wednesday this week. It would work for me if we skipped this week and did it on Wednesday next week the 18th of January. I try to make Mondays a rest day for me (I gotta recover from all the working out, skiing, and DT'ing I've been getting in).
selkirk Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 hmmmm, what we need is more victims! Any other poor suckers want to go fool around on real rock? I just found out there's another set of anchors off to the left so there'll be a new route to try out? Otherwise next wed. should be fine. I'm trying to actually improve my rockclimbing and strength so will be hitting the gym on Tues./Thurs. But Wed. will be great. So any other takers? Tanstaffl? Rocnoggin? Olymtnboy? Alex?
TeJay Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 are you guys serious about your play time? or would someone who has never tried drytooling be welcome?
Gary_Yngve Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 If it weren't going to be pouring rain, I'd consider some toolin'. It sounds almost as miserable as my debugging right now.
selkirk Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 You can't have a whole lot less experience dry tooling than I do! After all I'm up to a whole 4 evenings I think! Anyone who's interested is welcome.
OlympicMtnBoy Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I can probably do weds too, sounds like more fun in the rain and mud!
underworld Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 umm... so is this going on tonight? i was s'posed to ski, but now realize stevens isn't open tonight.
selkirk Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Sure! Can anyone be there at the Issaquah P&R at 3:00 It's a little nicer before it gets dark and wet!
Gary_Yngve Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Ah, this really isn't drytool night... it's afternoon. Sadly the skies are sunny and I got the glorious results I had hoped for at the aggressive schedule I promised, but I have lecture until 3:30.
selkirk Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 It just got pushed back to 3:30 anyway Anyone else want to join us at the Highway 900 crag? Parking for 3 cars, but the issaquah P&R is only 5 or 10 min. away.
Gary_Yngve Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I'd need transport from UW / Montlake&520. I'll have my pack at school. PM me by 2:15 if you can provide a ride.
OlympicMtnBoy Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Well shoot, it got sunny while I was indoors at the gym or I would have gone out earlier. You still ned a ride Gary? I could leave in a half hour. Is anyone else aready there or planning to meet at 5?
selkirk Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 If you want to come straight out there should be room for 3 cars.
OlympicMtnBoy Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Ahh well, I'm heading out anyways now. :-)
selkirk Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Once again much muddy fun was had by all. Had a nice even 4 people and put up a rope on one of the first anchor left of the bolt lines. There's one more anchor a little further left that we'll have to put last time. And I'm feeling jazzed so a very minor chestbeat but I managed to lead the left-hand bolt line up the anchors, though I did take a 5' fall at the lip above the last bolt.
Gary_Yngve Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Good job on the lead, Selkirk. I was unnerved plenty just on toprope! Drytooling is weird. You can clip bolts, but you can't hook the hangers. Is it legit to say screw the tools and use your hands, say on those mantles? Anyway, thanks for organizing it. It was fun, though I think I'd have a hard time convincing a nonclimber that drytooling is anything but stupid.
OlympicMtnBoy Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Yeah, I think I'd have a hard time convincing a lot of normal climbers that drytooling next the highway in the dark in the rain is anything but stupid too. Hehehe, fun though, thanks for having the ropes up when I got there too! Nice lead, maybe I'll try that next time (or in a year ot two), that and trying not to kill myself pulling back onto the road. :-)
