MountaingirlBC Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I don't have time to do a trip report and I suspect no one wants another Baker TR anyway so I'll just say..... WOW! I almost didn't go this time of year but I'm SO glad I did. It was AWESOME! So beautiful with the crevasses all open like that. Made it WAY more interesting than I had expected. The best rope team ever.... beautiful scenery.... great weather.... what a blast. Quote
knotzen Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 A cartwheel in crampons at 10,778 feet?!? Good job! On the climb, too. Quote
ashw_justin Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 That's not what I do when I get to the summit. I take a nap! L00K EVERYONE! POWDER!! Good recon. thanks. Quote
BreezyD Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Isn't Baker a beauty? Thanks for the smile this picture brought - it's great! Quote
Dru Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I tried to do a handstand on top of the Monkey Face but I tripped over an aider and nearly fell off. Quote
John Frieh Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I tried to do a handstand on top of the Monkey Face but I tripped over an aider and nearly fell off. I thought you said you just pull on the draws on the aid pitch and don't bother with aiders!?!?!?! Quote
maryk Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Hey -- I would actually like a bit of a trip report - at least a conditions report. Did you go this past weekend? I'm supposed to go this weekend and my partners and I are getting varying info. Someone even said to bring ice screws and be prepared to short rope through a bunch of stuff! I think he must have been speaking of a different route. So, standard slog route, current conditions info would be great if you or anyone has got them. Will contact Ranger station too. Thanks much. Yeah, and great handstand. ~~ maryk Quote
magellan Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Best summit glory shot today. Maybe ever. Quote
ncascademtns Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Yikes!!! Watch out for that rope! Excellent and very good and all that stuff! Any particular route you did? Quote
MountaingirlBC Posted September 24, 2005 Author Posted September 24, 2005 We just did the standard Coleman Demming route. Conditions were excellent. Nice styrofoam snow in the morning. Much better than I was expecting. No problems beyond a bit of route finding through the crevasse maze. Quote
mountainmarty Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Fantastic excitement so wonderfully expressed !! Thanks. Quote
