Gary_Yngve Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Climb: Dragontail-Backbone Date of Climb: 7/31/2005 Trip Report: We climbed it a while ago but we've been too busy too write up a respectable TR. I haven't had time yet to do my usual photo enhancements. http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/ania/Dragontail_Jul05/trip_report.html Quote
gyselinck Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 You guys write up good TR's, I like reading em. Quote
Bug Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Well done. Great TR and Great climb. Gary, you are shameless. Quote
olyclimber Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Nice...but Gary...why is your helmet consistently askew? Does it not fit? Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 It looks cooler tilted like that. Seriously, if I don't crank it tight, it slops around. The exact fit is dependent on how much hair on my head. If I crank it too tight, I might loosen it too much later when I try to eat or drink and the strap impedes my jaw. Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 Bug -- we'll see if I'm even more shameless when we implement our next zany idea for a trip. Quote
Bug Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Bug -- we'll see if I'm even more shameless when we implement our next zany idea for a trip. I hauled the big pig for FIVE women all summer. They were all smiles and so was I. Quote
kurthicks Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 So is Backbone 'harder' than Stuart NR w/gendarme? or just more sustained? Quote

still_climbin Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 (edited) Enjoyed the trip report and pictures. I just found this web site and reading reports like yours brings back memories. I climbed along the edge of the "Fin" in July,1971 and gave it that name in the AAJ route description we published that year. We intended to do the Fin's crest but couldn't find a reasonable entry onto the Fin once we got into the couliour to its east. At that time we had no clue that Mark Weigelt had done Backbone the year before or that Jim Wickwire had crossed the face of the Fin a month earlier. Any way, your pictures of the Fin have me thinking I'd like to return and try again. Edited November 22, 2005 by still_climbin Quote
