no sugar as sugar hinders preformance for endurance activities

Care to elaborate on this? Curious to why intake of sugar would be bad for endurance. I can see if you loaded alot of sugar but a slow steady intake should be ok,,or am I misstaken?

Ok..I ignored this tread...now I wish I didn't. I did Rainier this past weekend, on the way to Muir, my tangerine flavored powergel, exploded in my shorts pocket. YUK. Sticky, icky, and yuk.

The next day (middle of the night, what-ever you call it) on the way up from muir....my raspberry flavored hammerhead gel exploded in the top compartment of my back pack. YUK!

WTF! Why are they exploding?

It's almost too bad this isn't in spray yet! shocked.gif

Simple sugars go straight to the blood, giving you the sugar rush and subsequent crash.

Complex carbohydrates take longer to get broken down, thus effecting the 'slow steady intake' that you describe.

At least that's what i read in "The Idiot's Guide to Sugar"

Hence, the explosion.

Any questions?

are explosions and crashing the same thing??

Must we remind you that at least with most guys the exploding gu is very closely followed by a crash.

You know, that reminds me of my ex-husband, for some reason. He never even ate Gu.
