Adam__S Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 is the road up from icicle creek to the colchuck lake/asgard pass trailhead drivable at all? The USFS website says no, but it looks like it hasn't been updated in a month. Has anyone been up to the pass recently? Thanks for any help.. Also looking for info on Black peak/lewis lake area, but I'll post that in N. Cascades. Quote
ivan Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 drivable for about a mile till you hit that real narrow section w/ the steep drop-off - there's dirt and snow blocking it there (as of a few weeks ago, and i'd imagine a tractor would have to move the rubble even if the snow had melted out). knocks some of the bullshit road hike out though. ivan Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 ack, that sucks! anyone confirm it's still gated? Quote
summitseeker Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 It was still gated on Sunday, 3/6. After coming out of the Enchantments, I drove up the Icicle to investigate. That's the most recent information I have. BTW, it's Aasgard Pass (note spelling), despite what all the maps say Quote
EJohnson Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 Come On!, its only an extra hour of hiking from Icicle to the trail head Quote
ivan Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 gate still closed and i imagine it'll stay that way for at least another month. it's dry for about half the length but wet, and the upper part is pretty thick ice. Quote
pms Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Good news. They opened the gate yesterday about 11am. The nice ranger even gave us a ride the last mile back to our car at B.C.C.G. The trail to Stuart/Colchuck is melting out and icy. Quote
pms Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 NW face on Stuart on Monday, which was in great icy conditions as suggested by Colin. I think John Cooper will post a TR hopefully with a picture showing the route. Quote
kurthicks Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Bump^ anybody know if they've since re-closed it? or how far it's drivable with this new snow? Quote
