TheOldHouseMan
At this point it doesn't look like we are going to get any snow in the PNW to make it good through the summer. Im still optimistic though. So...I was thinking of a deal I saw on Oregon Field Guide about Sand Boarding. Is this limited to the knuckle draggers or can you do parrell turns and telle turns in the sand? Aaron
sobo
I've taken my "rock skis" and carved turns in the sand below the cliffs on the east bank of the Columbia River just south of the Vantage bridge. Take the exit for Othello and Royal City, then park the car about a half mile down the road from the exit. Anyone who's been to school at WSU knows where it is. Can't miss it. Norman_Clyde
Whenever I see a board line in the sand at that spot, I think to myself, "That guy must have been truly desperate... but at least he got in a few turns."
sobo
It's actually kind of fun in the middle of summer, all doody-ed up in resort regalia, watching the looks you get from folks driving by. But wipe-outs are, shall we say... "distasteful."

Dave_Schuldt
There is some place in Idaho where you can ski the sand.
Jim
Idaho Sand: http://www.idahoparks.org/parks/bruneaudunes.html I had resort to going to, well, a resort. Went to Sun Peaks last week. Good base and well groomed but they need some freshies. Crusin' fast but kinda boring without some fresh stuff off the runs.

I estimate about 300 feet vert; certainly no more than that.

Gaper_Jeffy
What are we going to do this summer? We are going to suffer! I plan on making turns every month this year regardless of how unpleasant it is.
